Senior editor Joe Wiesenfelder just returned from testing the all-new Jeep Patriot, and he delivers an almost-enthusiastic review of the compact SUV. It’s an interesting look at the new model because, unlike our usual test vehicles, Joe got to test various trim levels with different options, including a new off-roading package that isn’t available on the similar Jeep Compass.
Jeep just delivered news that its new Patriot compact SUV will start at $14,435 — not including a $560 destination charge — when it goes on sale right around the end of the year. Many Jeep purists frowned upon the similar Compass SUV when it debuted earlier this year because it was based on the same car platform as the Dodge Caliber. However, the Patriot does offer an off-road package on four-wheel-drive models, which earns the company’s Trail Rated designation.
