Recall Alert: 2013-2014 Jaguar XF

2014JaguarXF

Vehicles Affected: More than 80 model-year 2013-14 Jaguar XF luxury sedans, including XFR-S variants, manufactured between July 2, 2013, and April 11, 2014

The Problem: A component within the power assist steering system may collapse and restrict fluid flow within the system hose, causing a loss of power steering; this increases the effort needed to steer, increasing the risk of a crash.

The Fix: Jaguar will begin notifying owners on Aug. 29, and dealers will install an improved hose for free.

What Owners Should Do: Owners can call Jaguar at 800-452-4827, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or go to www.safercar.gov for more info.

Cars.com Reviews the 2014 Jaguar XFR-S

2014JaguarXFR-S

Cars.com reviewer Joe Wiesenfelder says the 2014 Jaguar XFR-S aims for maximum road performance yet achieves track readiness. With exterior styling already beefed-up from the XF to XFR models, the XFR-S further gooses aggression to great effect — but skip that garish optional spoiler. Power also increases on the sedan's 5.0-liter V-8, good for 550 horsepower, 502 pounds-feet of torque and a 4.4-second zero-to-60 time. The controlled, tasteful ride is undermined by an exhaust noise guaranteed to annoy anyone outside, but, hey, it's nice and quiet in the cabin, where you'll be.

Jaguar to Show Off Three Models at 2012 L.A. Auto Show

Jaguar f-type
Jaguar and Land Rover plan to unveil a trio of vehicles at next week's L.A. Auto Show, and we've already seen two of them. Jaguar's all-new F-type was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show and goes on sale next spring. The two-seat sports car is loosely based on Jaguar's C-X16 coupe concept, which made the auto-show rounds last year.

We've also had an up-close look at Land Rover's redesigned lightweight, aluminum-heavy 2013 Range Rover. It also will make its U.S. auto show debut in L.A.

Lastly, the automaker will unveil a high-performance version of the XF, the 2014 XFR-S. The sedan will make its world debut at the L.A. show. Specs haven't been announced, but Jaguar is calling the limited-edition car the "fastest and most powerful sedan Jaguar has ever produced." Only 100 will be made.

2012 Jaguar XF Video

After three years on the market, the Jaguar XF gets a relatively small headlight styling update, which impacts its look in a dramatic way, according to Cars.com Managing Editor David Thomas. The headlights now swoop downward, giving the XF that we tested a more menacing look. All-in-all, the XF is still quick and fun to drive and offers buyers lots of value compared to other V-8-powered midsize luxury sport sedans, says Thomas.

Recall Alert: 2012 Jaguar XF

2012 jaguar xf
Jaguar is recalling 51 model-year 2012 XF sedans to fix an incorrect certification label, according to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration.

The label lists the wrong gross vehicle weight rating. Exceeding the rating could lead to a loss of vehicle stability and increase the risk of a crash. Affected vehicles were built from Sept. 7 through Nov. 24. The vehicle's build date is on a label affixed to the driver-side doorjamb.

Dealers will replace the label free of charge. Jaguar will start notifying owners on or before Jan. 23. Owners can contact Jaguar at 800-452-4827 or NHTSA’s vehicle safety hotline at 888-327-4236.

2012 Jaguar XF, XFR at 2011 New York Auto Show

2012 Jaguar XF

  • Competes with: BMW 5 Series, Infiniti M, Lexus GS
  • Looks like: Jaguar gave the XF the headlights it should have had from the get-go
  • Drivetrain: 385-hp, 5.0-liter V-8 or 510-hp, supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 with six-speed automatic transmission; rear-wheel drive
  • Hits dealerships: 2011

Jaguar has revised the exterior styling of its 2012 XF and XFR sport sedans, but even though the changes are relatively small, the impact on the car's appearance is quite dramatic.

More 2011 New York Auto Show Coverage

When the car that became the XF debuted in concept form a few years back as the C-XF, it was a stunning vision for a Jaguar. The production XF that debuted as a 2009 model had much of that concept's style, but it had sprouted bug-eyed headlights, marring the car's look. All has been rectified for 2012, as the XF and XFR have thin bi-xenon high-intensity-discharge headlights with LED daytime running lights that more closely mimic the original concept car's look — and the lights on the brand's flagship XJ sedan. To further differentiate the high-performance XFR, Jaguar has enlarged the mesh-filled openings in the lower bumper.

Cars.com Podcast: 2010 Jaguar XFR Versus 2010 VW GTI

2010vwgti
OK, we’re kidding. Editors Mike Hanley and Kelsey Mays didn’t actually pit these two high-performance trims against each other — they just talk about the pros and cons in this week’s podcast. Especially interesting is the fact that both the Jaguar XFR and VW GTI could be serviceable daily drivers.

2010 Jaguar XFR Video

Matching comfort with performance, the 2010 Jaguar XFR lets its supercharged V-8 speak volumes. Cars.com reviewer Mike Hanley uses this video to demonstrate that Jaguar keeps the XFR’s styling subtle while it lets the performance do all the talking. Although to be fair, just starting the car lets you know that Jaguar means business. Check out the video to see why.
