2013 Pricing: Infiniti G37 Coupe, Convertible and IPL Coupe, Convertible

Moonlight_White_IPL
Model-year 2013 brings a modest price increase for Infiniti's popular G37 coupe and convertible lineup. A performance-oriented IPL version of the convertible also debuts for 2013.

The IPL convertible joins the Infiniti Performance Line version of the G37 coupe. It uses the IPL coupe's 343-horsepower, 3.7-liter V-6 and seven-speed automatic transmission and features the same performance upgrades like an IPL-tuned exhaust and suspension, 19-inch IPL aluminum-alloy wheels, a Stone or Monaco Red leather-appointed interior and a choice of two exterior colors: Malbec Black or Moonlight White.

2012 Infiniti G37

Infiniti has been busy expanding its G lineup to better compete with BMW's diverse 3 Series lineup; the 3 Series is the best-selling luxury model in America, to date. The new high-performance IPL version of the 2012 G37 coupe is exhilaratingly fun to drive, according to Cars.com Editor Jennifer Geiger, but can it compete with the BMW M3 and Lexus IS-F?

Year-End Deal Reality Check: Infiniti

2011 infiniti m 37
Just because the Christmas shopping season is over, doesn't mean the deals are. The end of the year can be a great time to buy a new car. Infiniti's Limited Engagement sale is back this year, enticing new-car shoppers with low financing on new 2011 and 2012 vehicles.

Well-qualified buyers can purchase select 2012 Infiniti cars and SUVs and take advantage of 1.9% or 2.9% financing. The former is offered for between 36 and 60 months, and latter is offered for 72 months. Vehicles that qualify for the deal include 2012 versions of the Infiniti G25 sedan, G37 sedan, M sedan (including the M37, M Hybrid and M56), FX and QX56. The offer excludes the 2012 Infiniti G IPL.

In an effort to clear 2011 vehicles off the lots, Infiniti dealers are also offering the financing special on 2011 G37 coupes and convertibles and the EX35 SUV. For example, you can buy a 2011 G37 coupe starting at $37,150 (excluding destination charges) and get 1.9% financing for 60 months. These offers end Jan. 3.

Infiniti Targets Family, Entry Segments

2013 Infiniti JX
Infiniti, Nissan's luxury division, sees an opportunity for growth in two segments — one addressed by the three-row JX crossover, the other by a future model that slots below the brand's popular G25/G37.

Ben Poore, vice president of Infiniti's U.S. business unit, sat down with us at the recent L.A. Auto Show to talk about the brand's potential. With inventories outpacing the industry average — unusual for a luxury brand — sales improved 3 percent in November, but they remain down nearly 4 percent this year. Poore notes the year-over-year results compare to a huge sales year (2010) for Infiniti, but says better inventory should help the road ahead.

He has high hopes for the JX crossover, a car he says targets "a very different market" from the QX SUV despite both having three rows of seats. While the $58,700 QX56 boasts V-8 towing capacity and a flashier clientele, Poore says the $40,450 JX35 hits the jackpot segment of luxury crossovers: the "luxury family."

Cars.com Family Reviews the 2011 Infiniti G37x

11G37x

With its sinewy looks and 3.7-liter V-6 engine, the 2011 Infiniti G37x coupe isn’t the typical mom- or dad-mobile. It can work as a family car, but you’ll need lots of patience when loading the kids in and out of the backseat.

Recall Alert: 2011 Nissan 370Z, 2011-12 Infiniti G37 Coupe

IMG_3583
Nissan is recalling about 1,800 2011 370Z vehicles and 2011-12 Infiniti G37 coupes because a faulty power window could cause a pinch injury before the window automatically reverses, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

On the affected vehicles, the power window switch controller is out of specification due to a programming error. In the case of an obstruction, like a finger or body part, the auto reverse — also called pinch protection — will still function, but there’s a chance of a pinch injury before the window reverses.

The affected vehicles were built between July 2 and Aug. 29. Dealers will replace the power window switches for free. The recall is expected to start around Nov. 28. For more info, Nissan owners can call 800-647-7261, and Infiniti owners can call 800-662-6200. Either can call NHTSA’s vehicle safety hotline at 888-327-4236.

2010 Infiniti G37 Video

Little has changed on the 2010 Infiniti G37 compared with last year’s model, and that’s actually a good thing, according to Cars.com editor Kesley Mays. The G37 has long been a favorite among the Cars.com editors, and the model still meets expectations even after being on the market for four years in more or less the same form. Still, can the G37 outhandle the almighty BMW 3 Series? Watch the video to find out or read our full review here.
