2011 Cadillac CTS Coupe Hits Dealerships Ahead of Schedule

The newest member of the Cadillac family, the 2011 CTS coupe, makes its way to dealerships today. Hundreds of coupes are being shipped across the country nearly a month ahead of schedule.

The CTS coupe is produced at the same factory that makes the CTS sedan and Sport Wagon and the long-in-the-tooth STS sedan.

The coupe has a starting price of $38,165, not including an $825 destination charge. A high-powered V-Series coupe will top out at $62,165. The CTS-V coupe won’t be available for at least a few more weeks until reviews of the car are made available, said Cadillac spokesman Nick Twork.

Besides the long-anticipated CTS-V coupe, Cadillac fans will have to wait till the end of this year for the CTS-V Sport Wagon, which is the brand’s only other scheduled new model.

Cadillac Rolls Out Free Maintenance

2011ctscoupe
We’re not saying we started something here, but it seems that since our post on free maintenance programs, more automakers are adding them.

Last week, Lincoln started offering a three-year free maintenance program as a summer incentive. Today, Cadillac announced that it will begin a full-time free maintenance program for all 2011 models. The plan covers all required maintenance for the first four years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first.

That includes oil changes, tire rotations, replacing engine and cabin air filters and the more significant/expensive multipoint inspections.

The first vehicles included in the program, called Cadillac Premium Care Maintenance, will be the 2011 CTS lineup, including the new CTS coupe.

Buick, Cadillac, GMC Incentives Hit 2010 Models

Caddy
While Chevy has piled on a lot of deals for its 2010 models, GM’s other brands aren’t necessarily lagging behind.

GMC has a number of cash-back and financing offers, most notably up to $5,000 or zero-percent financing for 72 months on the Sierra. The Yukon and Acadia have $3,000 and $3,300 cash back, respectively, as well as zero-percent financing for 60 months.

Buick is a bit stingier, but it still offers $4,000 in customer cash on the Lucerne and 1.9% APR financing for 60 months on the Enclave.

Finally, Cadillac is offering zero-percent financing for 60 months on the CTS, CTS-V, CTS Sport Wagon, DTS, Escalade and STS.

As always, deals may vary by region, so be sure to talk to your local dealer and check out our incentives page here.

2011 Cadillac CTS-V Sport Wagon at 2010 New York Auto Show

Ctsvwagon
  • Competes with: Other automakers make super wagons, but they just don’t sell them in the U.S.
  • Looks like: A very fast grocery getter
  • Drivetrain: 556-hp, supercharged 6.2-liter V-8, rear-wheel drive with six-speed automatic or manual transmission
  • Hits dealerships: Late 2010
What you see here is the “Cadillac CTS-V Sport Wagon Show Car,” as GM describes it. Besides the custom paint job and subtle changes to the back end, this is the car that buyers will see in showrooms toward the end of 2010 and in early 2011.

What makes the CTS-V Sport Wagon special? You can get the same 556-horsepower, supercharged V-8 engine in the CTS-V sedan and upcoming CTS-V coupe, but the wagon, well, it has a hatch.

Its unique bodystyle is all we can say about what distinguishes the wagon from either of the other two high performance variants. It will ride on 19-inch aluminum wheels, pack magnetic ride control, Brembo brakes and has an optional panoramic sunroof. OK, so there’s something it has that the other two don’t.

Why make a wagon this fast? It’s not unheard of. German automakers have similarly high-powered versions of their wagons. They’d be good competition for the CTS-V, too, and we’re sure every enthusiast magazine would write a comparison piece. There’s just one problem. None of the German automakers currently sell any of their wagons in the U.S., and there are no plans to do so.

So, gaze upon the CTS-V Sport Wagon. It’s truly a car with no equal. More photos below.

Cadillac CTS Wagon Gets Price Drop

Sportwagon
The automotive market is competitive enough without a company pitting its own products against each other. This is what led Cadillac to slash the price of the new 2010 CTS sport wagon earlier this month. It turned out the CTS was butting heads with the redesigned Cadillac SRX crossover.

According to Cadillac, buyers would see the price of the SRX and promptly lose any interest they had in the CTS sport wagon. The base CTS sport wagon model was $40,485 and now has been scaled back to $39,150, while the SRX starts at $34,155. (All prices include destination fees.) A loaded all-wheel-drive SRX runs about $50,000.

The problem may not be the pricing so much as what buyers see in each model, which, apparently, is that they are the same and one is cheaper than the other. The CTS sport wagon is new for 2010, and in introducing it, Cadillac may have inadvertently set itself a major hurdle. It saw the SRX crossover as a vehicle that would primarily be bought by women, while men would buy the CTS sport wagon. We predicted this exact issue when the two debuted side by side at last year’s Detroit auto show.

We’ll see if the price adjustment clarifies who is supposed to be buying what Cadillac, and if American shoppers will ever select a wagon over an SUV.

Cars.com Reviews the 2010 Cadillac CTS Sport Wagon

Ctswagon
The Cadillac CTS has been a tried-and-true winner for GM, and now the automaker adds the Sport Wagon version for 2010. For a price bump of $3,000, you’ll get double the cargo room packed into an already “exceptional” vehicle. Still, Cars.com reviewer Joe Wiesenfelder has a few bones to pick with the Sport Wagon—especially compared to a few competitors.

2010 Cadillac CTS Sport Wagon Video

You can count Cars.com reviewer Joe Wiesenfelder as a fan of the 2010 Cadillac CTS Sport Wagon, despite the disappointing reliability ratings that the CTS sedan gets. The wagon comes loaded with enough cargo space, features and versatile functions to make it worth a look.
