Recall Alert: 26,000 Audi and Volkswagen Vehicles

Vehicles Affected: About 26,000 model-year 2011-12 Audi S4, S5 and Q7 vehicles; model-year 2012 Audi A6 and Volkswagen Touareg Hybrid vehicles; and model-year 2012-13 Audi A7 sedans.

The Problem: In the affected vehicles, the fuel-injection system could experience a leak. In the presence of an ignition source, this leak increases the risk of a fire.

The Fix: Dealers will replace the fuel rails and corresponding seals for free.

What Owners Should Do: Volkswagen will notify owners around March 10. Audi owners can call 800-822-2834 and refer to recall 24AP; Volkswagen owners can call 800-893-5298 and refer to recall 24BK. Owners also can call the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration at 888-327-4236 for more information.

Recall Alert: 2013-2015 Audi A4, S4

Vehicles Affected: Nearly 102,000 model-year 2013-15 Audi A4 and S4 sedans

The Problem: The front-impact airbags may not deploy as designed in a crash due to improper algorithm/coding within the airbag control module, according to The Detroit News. Front-seat occupants may not have the intended protection from the frontal airbag system in a secondary impact, putting them at risk for an injury, the newspaper reported. The automaker discovered the problem during routine quality-assurance testing, and no accidents or injuries have been reported; the issue is not related to the massive ongoing Takata airbag recall.

The Fix: Audi will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the airbag software for free. The automaker has not yet announced a notification schedule.

What Owners Should Do: Owners can call Audi at 800-253-2834 for more info.

The performance version of Audi's compact sedan hasn't changed much since its model-year 2010 introduction, but the 2014 S4 still delivers with fast looks and the performance chops to back them up, says reviewer Joe Bruzek. He says the S4 makes everyday driving entertaining, thanks to an energetic supercharged V-6 and slick-shifting manual transmission. Check out the review below for more.

2010 Audi S4 Video reviewer Joe Wiesenfelder calls the 2010 Audi S4 a sleeper, noting that Audi has managed to add performance while achieving better fuel economy. The 2010 S4 knocks $4,400 off its sticker price by escaping the gas-guzzler tax. Yet Wiesenfelder still has one baffling question: Why does a T stand for supercharged?

It seems the gremlins in our podcast feed have been exposed to sunlight, and our stream of enlightened musings is flowing again. That’s good because it means you get to hear Kelsey Mays explain how the new Honda Accord Crosstour really is like a fish out of water.

His conflicted feelings are countered by David Thomas’ outright love for Lincoln’s MKT, and Joe Wiesenfelder talks about his time in the all-new Audi S4 and why it couldn’t live up to his expectations.

A more powerful version of Audi’s A4 sedan, the 2010 Audi S4 has a bevy of improvements over previous generations. This includes a supercharged V-6 rather than a V-8, and reviewer Joe Wiesenfelder explains how Audi even improves the S4’s mileage and lowers its cost while not giving up anything when it comes to performance.
