2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Exceeds 700 hp

Hellcat

When a small hammer isn't getting the job done, the most obvious solution is to get a bigger hammer, right? Dodge is bringing out its biggest hammer with the 2015 Challenger SRT Hellcat — its supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 makes a whopping 707 horsepower. Dodge says it's the most powerful V-8 it's ever produced and the most powerful muscle car ever.

The full 707 hp is unleashed when drivers use a red key fob; the second black key fob lowers output to a measly 500 hp. Is it overkill that the black key loses 200 horsepower and still has more power than a regular 485-hp Challenger SRT? Hell, no; bring it on. The Challenger SRT Hellcat hits dealerships in the third quarter of 2014. There's no word yet on pricing.

Holy crap. Awesome. Nice job, Dodge!! I wish we'd see AWD as an option on the Challenger, old skool muscle or no.

This car will look insane in a matt black!

I doubt you'd see 'awd' with this very heavy engine/supercharger. The weight distribution is front wheel drive like 57/43.
Maybe with a shorter/lighter twin-turbo V6.

I'm glad Fiat-Chrysler came through on this promise. They said that that this version of the Challenger would have over 600 horsepower, and look what we get! 707 horsepower - in a Challenger!

The only downside that seems to pop up for me right away is that pricing hasn't been announced yet.... This will most likely be a car for deep, deep pockets and oversized bank accounts.

I guess we'll have to see, but, on the face of it, it seems to be a pretty awesome vehicle.

Really? Sorry to Burst the Mopar fanboy bubble, But.....Ford has Shelby producing street legal Mustangs called Shelby 1000's and of course the track ready Supersnakes. Both in excess of 1100HP. They are beefed up and built from off the assembly line GT500''s with the 662HP power plant.

So if you want to get technical about it... It's not touted as a Ford assembled Automobile since it's a Shelby specialty upgrade but, like the Hellcat it come with a track key to unlock the 1100 ponies... Other than that the standard key keeps it at a docile 662HP.

So Dodge really hasn't pulled off an upset here.

That's some beautiful peace of art. I love this muscle car.

JT- and another Faux news dittohead sheepie uses a random article as an excuse to vomit his totally unrelated ramblings. Nice work, kid! Now get back to your burger flipping.
