Recall Alert: 2013-2014 Chevrolet Cruze

Vehicles Affected: Approximately 29,019 model-year 2013-14 Chevrolet Cruze sedans

The Problem: General Motors is reporting that a faulty inflator in the driver's side front airbag could cause the bag to rupture, and metal pieces could injure the occupants. The faulty inflator could also cause the airbag not to inflate, increasing the risk of an injury in a crash. GM said it's aware of one warranty claim related to this issue.

Reuters is reporting that although the affected airbag inflators were made by Takata, the Japanese supply company at the center of a massive, multi-automaker airbag recall, the Cruze airbag inflator issue is separate.

The Fix: Dealers will replace the driver's side airbag inflator for free.

What Owners Should Do: General Motors has not yet provided an owner notification schedule. Owners can call Chevrolet at 866-694-6546 for more information.

My daughter was in a accident with her chevy cruze before this air bag issue came out. I called GM to let them know that no air bags deployed in her vehicle. She suffered a concussion and some minor lacerations from her head hitting the drivers window. You can read the full story in the attached Blog

Hello everyone.......
Last 20 years i am a user of Chevrolet Cruze...I know that....the Chevrolet offers an arching roofline connects a steeply raked windshield and fast-sloping rear pillars that provide a sporty, coupe-like proportion....

We have a 2013 and 2014 Cruze and at this point, I do not know if I will ever buy another GM car again. They really need to get their act together or go out of business

First time GM buyer- I have the 2013 Chevy Cruze...unsure if I want another GM car, will go back to Honda. I wanted to buy an American car and support our workers, but what the heck is their Quality Assurance team doing?

Your all delusional. They are recalling anything that happens to any car now. The major reason is what happened post bankruptcy. Now this is nothing more then a witch hunt. Any accident you get into you think you can make money. Thank god for BK laws because many small business's would never get a chance to recover.

Yeah, you are all delusional. People should really feel bad for corporations like GM. They really do care about their customers... guess they wouldn't have had any recalls if they hadn't gone through bankruptcy...

Had the gov let gm go out of business, who would be paying for recalls on past model year vehicles?

If you ask me, the government should have let gm go bankrupt, and then recalled everything.

But then when they showed up to pick up their cars, just give them hondas, toyotas, or the like.

DLB...Toyota recalls aren't any better. Why would you give someone a car that has just as many issues.

I have a Chevy Cobalt. It has been at the dealership for a month and they told ne it could be September before I get it back. Im not sure iI will get another cChevy

I just purchased a 2014 Cruze. I had a 1998 Chevy Cavalier, I only replaced it because it was totalled. I had a 2003 Saturn Ion which lasted 11 yrs and 230,500 miles with no problem until the transmission finally went out 2 weeks ago. Stop complaining because Toyota, Lexus and Honda has recalls too!If cars were perfect there would never be a new model.

I'm still in love with my 2013 Chevy cruze 😍😍😍

I was in an accident last october just after I bought my cruze :( I was going 45 mph at impact and my airbag didn't go off, thank goodness I was not hurt. GM didn't seem concerned at all :(

I purchased my Chevy Cruze in April. I was wondering if there was a recall would GM not send out a recall notice?

I owns a 2013 Chevy Cruze. It run very well. No problem. Maybe people who owned that, did something to the cars.

I have a 2013 Chev Cruze at first I hated it cause it just wasn't my idea of a long distance travelling vehicle. The leather seats were so hard, and very uncomfortable. Ive had it nearly 2 yrs now and I love it excellent fuel economy, husband hates it but hes nearly 6 ft tall but the car itself is great no complaints to add.

Hello everyone, I have recently traded in my 2013 Cruze ltz rs for a Nissan Rogue and i will never look back. I strongly advise anyone that wishes to buy a 1.4 liter cruze to drive something with 20,000 miles or more cause once you feel how it shifts you will look elsewhere. Ours drove good for the first 1,500 miles and then it started shifting hard in third gear. took it in and had someone drive it at the dealer and determined it had an issue. they said it was a spacer or something to do with the clutch plates. they where supposed to send a report to gm then suddenly that info never made it. Had to take it to another dealer to get a second opinion and they stated that the vehicle operated within gm specs and no repair was required. I also requested service forms and they only gave me the info for problems not being found. What really sucked was the fact that even when i had a mechanic drive with me and the car was shifting like it was he stated that was normal. And added that was the nature of the beast and they all have this issue. I am all about supporting our uaw workers but if it wasn't for the idiot engineers and the crook investors we wouldn't be having these problems. Doesn't anyone test anything anymore or do they just push crap out in hopes that you'll trade in for a more expensive models. Either way gm has lost my business probably forever. Still love My 72 c-10 with a good old 350. but anything 2010 and up i feel is not trust worthy, minus the ignition recals. And yes i Know there is a lag in the turbo! Plus my neighbor has a 2012 and a 2.0 and at 60,000 had to have a cam replaced and after they said it was fixed it was smoking and loosing oil. So if you love cars that shift like crap buy one or a Buick regal. Oh and the problem is in the computer! Maybe now they sent an update to fix this but i doubt it. Ether way i feel raped and Trade in value sucked due to all these recalls. But i did some wheelin and dealin and still got a good deal anyways. plus i get more hp and better gas millage to boot. And the sad fact is GM isn't the only company that has these problems. also Gm states that there is a .5 second lag response in the pedal or sag. Well if you time it it will be 1 to 2 seconds in the real world. But that still operates within Gm Specs. Look at the bulletins and reports on cars and do your research before you buy cause it will help you make the right decision. And remember that when it comes to cars consumer reports only test drives low mile vehicles. Or they are payed off lol And if they tell you that It acts that way because the computer is trying to learn off of two different drivers then use your better judgement and call it bs.

The issue today with "ALL" car makers is parts are being made "CHEAPER", NOT AS STRONG OR "GOOD" as in the past. If they can cut corners to add dollars to their pockets then they do. Drivers end up paying the price in the end. I have a 2012 Cruze dead in the laneway. Battery should not be an issue after 2 yrs.

My husband purchased a 2006 Equinox new. Since Apr. of last year it has been one issue after another. He was cleaning the truck and I asked if he has pulled the E brake lately. OOOPS! something went wrong. Took it to GM. It is the R Caliper and a week later it was the left caliper. Then there was no issue they said. Then they want 2,000 for more work. I said put it back together we are getting another opinion. It cost 225.00 for a flex line. It wasn't the master cylinder or the rotors or brakes. At 230,000k which would be approx. 160,000 miles you should have to spend this kind of money on repairs. 5,000 since Apr. last year. If they are going to build a cheap car or truck then the prices need to be cut in half.

The Cruze is a piece of junk.I have brought the car in several times for brake and electrical issues.Going to see a first and last Chevy!!!

First and last Chevy

Well yesterday received yet another new recall for my 2011 Cruze. This time for improper coolant level from the factory... I love GM, I have 2009 G8 GT little to no issues, 2014 GMC Sierra little to no issues, 2011 Chevy Cruze 5 recalls since I bought this new not to mention having the transmission rebuilt, the Master Tech leaving off the drain plug and having to have it rebuilt again. It seems like they need to ammend the lemon law for these cars. Yea they fixed the issue...however the lemon law should have a cap on the amount of recalls for a specified vehicle. Looking forward, I do not forsee this car lasting very well if it has only been 3 years and I have had major issues and recalls.

My son and his friend who was the driver of his 2014 chevy cruze got in a frontal car accident with no deployment of the airbags and both ended up in the hospital with injuries to the face head and neck.

2014 Chevy Cruise Diesel, Had to replace exhaust sensors 3 times. Cost to Chevrolet $400. each time happens very 2000 miles

My brother in law was in an accident last week. He veered off the road and hit a tree and then about 50 foot of fence. He suffered a shattered wrist that had to have surgery with screws set into place. The whole passenger side is completely demolished and the front passenger wheel ended up by the back wheel. NO AIRBAGS went off. None.

Everyone bashing gm and the Cruz, the air bag issues are all manufacturers its the company that makes them. They make them for gm, honda, Toyota and I'm sure even more.

Have a 2013 Cruze LTZ. Starting smelling coolant in the cabin, went for a test ride with the mechanic, he said he didn't smell anything. Had them look into anyway, low and behold they said oh coolant was leaking had to replace the water pump.

I have a 2013 Cruze LT, purchased in August, 2013. I have had no problems with it, albeit I have only put 6,000 miles on the car. It has not been recalled once. It replaced a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am, with which I also had few problems over 12 years of driving.
