GM Recalls: 14.4 Million Vehicles and Counting

Bad news continues to trickle out of GM like a leaky faucet. Year-to-date, the automaker has issued recalls affecting more than 14.4 million vehicles in the U.S. Under pressure from the Department of Transportation, GM has overhauled how it handles safety issues and is looking at old and new safety problems under fresh leadership. This means more recalls, which is something that CEO Mary Barra says is a testament to GM's recommitment to safety.

In referencing the deadly ignition switch recall, Barra said in a statement: "You should know that I have and will be guided by two clear principles: to do [the] right thing for those that were harmed and to make sure we accept responsibility for our mistakes and commit to doing everything within our power to prevent this problem from ever happening again."

Barra goes on to say that in the near term we can expect to see a few more recalls. Friday's latest round covers an unrelated ignition problem in the Chevrolet Camaro as well as wiring issues in the Buick LaCrosse, a seat belt malfunction in the Saab 9-3 convertible and a transmission problem in the Chevrolet Sonic. The four new recalls bring the 2014 total to 38 recalls issued as of June 13.

They forget to add my Chevy spark air conditioner to the list. I got it fixed a few weeks ago under a recall
