What's in a name? Well, if you're referring to the 2015 BMW 435i Gran Coupe, it means a four-door luxury car that goes by the name of a two-door without much explanation as to why. As Cars.com reviewer Aaron D. Bragman — clearly perplexed by this latest addition to the BMW variant inundation — previously described it, the 435i Gran Coupe is basically the 4 Series coupe with a stretched and minimally raised roofline — oh, plus a new name.

BMWs numbering system is madness. They created the 4-series for the 2-door cars, to differentiate them from the 3-series which are 4-door cars. Then they make this 4-door hatch and put it in the same series with the 2-doors???

What I'd like to know is if this is suppose to be the smaller version of the 5 series GT or like the 6 series' sexy Gran Coupe??? Hey, when will BMW start utilizing the 7 series platform and start creating it's own confusions??? X7, 7 series Gran Coupe, 7 series coupe, etc.

My goodness. BMW is a disaster.

@ Ken L.,

The X7 is coming soon. Be prepared.
