Ford has released a few images of the four-door sedan and electric versions of its new 2015 Focus compact, the hatchback version of which was introduced at the 2014 Geneva International Motor Show in March.

The new Focus sedan features all of the updates that the hatchback received, with new styling reminiscent of the smaller Fiesta, and a new rear-end treatment that's styled to emphasize the horizontal, making the car seem wider. The blue sedan pictured here is an SE model that features a new SE Sport Package, plus an optional Black Package that covers the grille, mirror caps, spoiler and wheels in a rather sparkly metallic black paint.

The company also released images of the new Focus Electric, which will again be offered only in a hatchback configuration. Visual changes from the conventional gas-powered hatchback are fairly evident: A new front bumper that eliminates aerodynamically inefficient fog lights and revises the grille openings is the most obvious change, but the appearance of a charge port door on the left front fender and unique wheels are also a giveaway.

Inside, all versions get a revised interior that brings back buttons in place of the MyFord Touch touch-sensitive panels from the previous car. The Focus Electric also gets a unique LCD gauge cluster with electric-car-specific gauges and meters to help the driver manage power and range.

More details on the new Focus sedan and Focus Electric are expected next week when the two cars are introduced at the 2014 New York International Auto Show.

I want to like it but compared to the Kia Forte I just can't, even though the Kia's fuel economy is pretty awful especially with the 1.6 turbo hatch version. Sorry Ford, add more than a corporate grill and try again.

I like the design of the hatchback and that it can be had as a plug-in, this is a nice offering. We love out Volt but for the other car we had to have something bigger for some occasions and this might be just the thing. The Prius Plugin is has too limited range and capabilities and the C-Max is awkward design, I like what I see here.
