Names Chevrolet Impala Best of 2014

For years, the Chevrolet Impala languished as a fleet special, a favorite of rental car companies that would buy them by the gross and foist them on hapless, disappointed travelers. Not anymore; 2014 brings an all-new Impala, and by any measure it is extremely impressive. It starts with styling that not only brings the Impala in line with the rest of the Chevrolet showroom, but it also acts to define it.

The Impala won in a heated, contentious vote over five other worthy competitors:

  • Acura MDX
  • Hyundai Santa Fe
  • Kia Forte sedan
  • Mazda3
  • Mazda6

Impala was the correct choice, though I would assume Mazda 6 was a strong contender. Nice to see GM getting credit for a job well done. It also shows that, contrary to certain comments posted on this site in the past, does not have an anti-GM bias.

I rented the Impala as a contender in my search for a new car. It lost due to the extremely poor view out and difficulty in access due to high sills, but it's really otherwise a smooth, well-done package.

Note: these RECAPTHCAs are getting almost impossible to decipher. Time to find another system.

The Impala's luxury sibling Cadillac XTS is also a very nice vehicle. I'd take it over any other FWD based luxury cars such as Lexus ES, Volvo S80 or any Acura sedans.

The Impala LT I rented didn't have heated Spark does.....

For the record, heated front seats are optional in the 1LT and 2LT Impala. On the gas Spark, you have to move up to the 2LT trim to get them, where they're standard.

I am a current Impala owner and the 2014 Impala LTZ is very sharp. I sat in one at the Car Show and the interior design is very impressive. The peanut butter colored seats and the illumination on the dashboard trim gives it a luxury style look. Have yet to test drive one, but I am considering trading my 2007 in for a 2014. Beautiful car!

Love my 2014 Impala however I found that the driver's seat to be a little to low for my driving position I'm 5'8" so I put a folded towel on it.
