Nissan Demonstrates Smart Rearview Mirror

While the very purpose of a rearview mirror is to see what's behind you, Nissan is looking ahead. The Japanese automaker demonstrated a prototype of its Smart Rearview Mirror during the 2014 New York International Auto Show, and Cars.com reviewer Kelsey Mays was there to check it out. The system works similarly to a conventional backup camera, but instead broadcasts unobstructed real-time images to the driver's rearview mirror at the flip of a switch. Catching a glimpse of the newfangled mirror in a mass-produced car is years off, so for now get Mays' reflections by watching the video above.

Most-Watched Videos of the Week

It's uncommon to have 100 percent turnover on our list of most-watched videos, but this week's roster is all-new. The pack of debuts is led by Cars.com reviewer Kelsey Mays' First Look at the 2015 Kia Sedona during the 2014 New York International Auto Show. He was impressed by the minivan, particularly the interior, which boasts pop-out ottomans for the second row. First Looks from the auto show dominated the entire list, with 2015 models including the Acura TLX, Alfa Romeo 4C, BMW X4 and Toyota Camry. Check out what was popular.

2015 Dodge Charger Video

Although the 2015 Dodge Charger is just a revision of the current generation, its new look could be mistaken for a redesign. Cars.com reviewer Kelsey Mays checked out the muscle car's debut at the 2014 New York International Auto Show, immediately taking note of the Dart-like front-end styling that largely abandons the Charger's retro look in favor of more streamlined curves and downsized rear end. A treat for buyers is a standard performance-data feature in the gauge cluster. Check out the video for more.

2015 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen: Up Close

VWUC1

Let's get this out of the way: The Golf SportWagen you see here is an R-Line sport version with a diesel engine, manual transmission and all-wheel drive that's only a concept at the moment. It's an attention-grabbing debut sure to entice wagon lovers with its dream-team powertrain combined with the sporty R Package.

The striking blue exterior combined with a low stance and multispoke wheels set off the long, sleek exterior as much more proportional and attractive than the outgoing Jetta SportWagen. The Golf SportWagen goes on sale in early 2015 with less flash than the concept, but not any less usability considering it's longer and wider than the outgoing Jetta with more passenger and cargo room.

2015 Dodge Challenger Video

Even amid a veritable pose-down of Detroit automaker muscle at the 2014 New York International Auto Show, the 2015 Dodge Challenger looked well-defined against competitors. Cars.com reviewer Kelsey Mays says the redesigned Challenger still sports that '70s shape, but a new split grille and smiley expression distinguish it from the previous model's single-piece grille and sourpuss. The biggest changes are inside, however, where "retro" becomes a thing of the past in favor of abundant soft-touch materials, tech upgrades, and surprising passenger and cargo space, making the Challenger a formidable contender. Watch the video.

2015 Jeep Renegade Video

The 2015 Jeep Renegade is all-new, but visitors to the 2014 New York International Auto Show — where the subcompact SUV is bowing — will see a lot of familiar features. Cars.com reviewer Kelsey Mays says its boxy shape, Patriot-like lines and seven-bar grille show its Jeep pedigree. However, the Renegade's similarities to the Fiat 500L hatchback on which it's based reveal some family blending as the Italian automaker and Chrysler realize their landmark merger. Watch the video for more — especially the rather novel etching of Moab, Utah, topography into storage-compartment mats.
