Maserati Shows Alfieri Concept, Makes Us Excited for Next GranTurismo

Maseraticoncept500

The 2014 Geneva International Motor Show is in full swing, and one of the highlights is the sexy concept coupe from Maserati, the Alfieri. Built on the occasion of Maserati's 100th anniversary, it's meant to point the direction of future Maserati sports cars. The company's only coupe is currently the GranTurismo, which is starting to get a little long in the tooth, and always has been considered more of a boulevardier than a sports car.

2015 Audi TT and TTS at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show

AudiTT500

Competes with: Porsche Boxster, BMW Z4, Nissan 370Z, Mercedes-Benz SLK

Looks like: Same iconic TT, with more angularity

Powertrains: 230 hp or 310 hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, six-speed manual or dual-clutch automatic, front- or all-wheel-drive

Hits dealerships: TBD

Audi made waves when the first-generation TT sports car arrived in the late 1990s. It looked like nothing else, eschewing the traditional styles of sports cars for something that seemed like a cross between a gym shoe and squashed Volkswagen Beetle, and it became a style icon. At the 2014 Geneva International Motor Show, Audi has unveiled its third-generation TT and TTS, bringing more refinement and technology to its entry-level sports car, but there is no date set for when it will go on sale in the U.S.

New Nissan Juke for Europe Strongly Hints at U.S. Version

12933351725_6f1df0613e

Nissan unveiled an updated version of its controversial Juke subcompact at the 2014 Geneva International Motor Show. The diminutive SUV is a best-seller in Europe, its most popular market, but hasn't found much fanfare in the U.S. Nissan hopes this update will allow it to continue its dominance of the premium subcompact category overseas and maybe turn more heads in the U.S.

More Geneva Motor Show Coverage

The new European version maintains the unusual exterior style of the current Juke, while adapting some front and rear styling from the broader look of the Nissan family. The most notable change is new running lights, which look similar to those on the Altima sedan, and are still prominently located in the upper fenders. The large, round headlights are now nestled into a revised grille and lower bumper design.

560 Horsepower Means Infiniti is Serious About Eau Rouge

560hpEauRouge

There are sport sedans and then there are sport sedans. For years BMW has played in this arena with the M3, Mercedes-Benz with the C63 AMG and Audi with the RS 4 and RS 5. Now it seems Infiniti wants a piece of the super-high-performance segment with its Q50 in the skin of the Eau Rouge concept that we first saw at the 2014 Detroit auto show in January.

The problem then was Infiniti didn't reveal the engine that would be under the hood.

Today, its proudly announcing that there's a twin-turbo 3.8-liter V-6 under the hood good for 560 horsepower. Sound familiar?

It's the same engine that powers Nissan's GT-R supercar, which in its latest incarnation takes the engine's total output to 600 horses.

Like the GT-R, the engine is teamed to an all-wheel-drive system and mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission for a zero-to-60-mph time of less than 4 seconds.

There's no confirmation that this uber Q will make it to production, but it'd be hard for Infiniti to back down from challenging the likes of its above-mentioned competitors along with Cadillac's powerful V models after this announcement.

Mazda Reveals Hazumi Concept at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show

Mazda-concept

Mazda is on a styling roll these days with the beautiful Mazda6 sedan and appealing Mazda3 compact making waves for their swoopy looks. That leaves the small Mazda2 next in line for a revision. We may have just gotten a look at its future with the unveiling of the new Hazumi concept at the 2014 Geneva International Motor Show.

More Geneva Motor Show News

Featuring the latest version of Mazda's "Kodo" design language, the company likes to draw comparisons to animals for the look of the subcompact five-door hatchback. Phrases such as "cheetah-like face" with the "look of an animal on the prowl" are not inappropriate. However, the Hazumi does have a dynamic, sculpted look that wouldn't be out of place in Mazda showrooms as the next Mazda2. The lines almost evoke an Alfa Romeo feel to the car, with elements of Mazda's other vehicles thrown in.

Jaguar's 3 Series-Fighter Finally Announced, Named

JaguarXETeaser

Jaguar announced today that an all-new midsize sedan is on the way for 2015, and it will be called the Jaguar XE.

The company also revealed that the new car will be based on an aluminum chassis with new 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines. There was no mention if these will be turbocharged engines, but we assume they will be because the automaker claims they're "all-new." It sounds like Jaguar is ditching the turbo 2.0-liter in the current XF sedan.

Jaguar also said there would be a "full range" of engine choices, including one topping 186 mph, so this BMW 3 Series competitor will likely pack more than just a four-cylinder.

Jaguar has been without a car in this segment since the much-maligned X-Type was discontinued in 2009. It enters a competitive segment with not only the 3 Series but also a redesigned Mercedes-Benz C-Class, the soon-to-be-updated Audi A4, Cadillac ATS, Volvo S60, Infiniti Q50, Lexus IS 250 and Acura's new TLX.

The only XE image that Jaguar released (above) doesn't look remarkably different from the XF sedan, but we'll see more when the production versions are revealed "later this year."

2015 Jeep Renegade: First Look

12678679904_6ff3d3b8d2

Competes with: Buick Encore, Fiat 500L, Mini Countryman

Looks like: A proper boxy Jeep

Powertrains: 160-hp, turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder with six-speed manual or 184-hp, 2.4-liter four-cylinder with nine-speed automatic transmission, front- or all-wheel drive

Hits dealerships: Early 2015

Do you miss the old, boxy Jeep Cherokee? Do you desire the rugged fun of the Jeep Wrangler, but want something a bit safer, more secure and fuel efficient? Think the new Cherokee is just too big? Well, Jeep has an answer: the all-new subcompact 2015 Jeep Renegade, which was just unveiled at the 2014 Geneva International Motor Show.

2015 Jeep Renegade Photo Gallery (55 Photos)

The Renegade is the latest product of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, and while it looks for all the world like a pure American Jeep, underneath is a modified platform shared with the Fiat 500L that Jeep calls the new "small-wide 4x4 architecture." That means it's tiny by American standards — 1.8 inches shorter than a Buick Encore but 5 inches longer than a Honda Fit. It will be a global product sold all over the world with an eye-popping number of powertrain combinations tailored to various markets, and it will even come in a right-hand-drive version.

Mini Clubman Concept: First Look

Clubman1

The saying goes that you can never have enough money or chocolate, but it seems that you can also add "kinds of Mini Cooper " to that list as well, as the brand continues to come out with variants on the original three-door subcompact.

Mini Clubman Concept Photo Gallery

The latest, the Mini Clubman Concept, is distinctly different than the current production Clubman. It's longer than the new Mini Cooper Hardtop, but unlike the last Clubman, it has four full doors and room for five passengers, essentially making it a four-door Mini Cooper.

Audi Gives Glimpse of 2015 TT

TT1

Audi's iconic TT sports car is about to get an update, which will be revealed to the world at the upcoming 2014 Geneva International Motor Show in March, and the company is teasing fans with some sketches of the new coupe. Mechanical details are still forthcoming, but visually, the car doesn't differ too much from the current model. Its squat, rounded shape has a similar silhouette to the current model, but there's a more pronounced horizontal emphasis on the front and rear ends.
