Tracking the Fuel Economy of Cars.com's 2013 Honda Civic, 2013 Subaru BRZ

Civic_Dynamic_1

Cars.com staffers have stretched the highway legs of our 2013 Subaru BRZ since the previous update and returned with some impressive fuel-economy numbers. This trip's mileage is the highest we've calculated on a tank of fuel — 35.94 mpg — and embarrasses the EPA's 30 mpg highway rating and bested the onboard trip computer; it recorded 37.3 mpg for that jaunt. Our overall average is up 1.19 mpg thanks to multiple tanks over 30 mpg.

The Civic, however, carries over with unchanged highest and lowest mileage numbers as well as the same longest range on a tank of gas. Check out the results in the charts below.

The line 'Recommended fuel' is misleading, especially in the case of the BRZ. Premium in this case is required (unlike, for example, a Ford Focus ST, where premium is recommended).

Looking at Civic mpg averages, I have to say, they exact to what my Mazda3 gets. Although my lowest was 27mpg. And highest just over 36. With average just about 30. So, looks like i didn't lose much in MPG department by not buying a Civic

I just got a 2013 civic and I am getting much better mpg than your results. 1 st tank 38.4 mpg. 2nd tank 41.18. Love the mileage, hands down the best commuter I've ever bought. Fantastic ROI!!!
