How has the rise in popularity of alternative-fuel-powered vehicles affected the cost of a gallon of gasoline and how much of it motorists buy? A new infographic from Mustang enthusiast site CJ Pony Parts charts the changes along with how much it costs to run a vehicle on ethanol, biodiesel and compressed natural gas — among others.

I'm believe that while we decrease our use of oil and turn to more alternative fueled cars, we still need continue working towards opening the gates to competition at the pump. This will also open the gateway to further investing in renewable fuels and might even be a cause to boost the energy economy


What about gas-to-liquids like methanol? With simple modifications many cars on the road today can run on methanol. It is also significantly cheaper than gasoline.
