2014 Jeep Cherokee Photo Gallery

The Cherokee is back in the Jeep lineup for the first time in nearly 13 years, and it looks drastically different compared to the tough, boxy appearance of the last generation. Call the styling ugly, unique or — as one of our editors suggested — a revolution.

Our gallery shows off the SUV's styling, sure, but we also have shots of the backseats and cargo area. Two areas of the Cherokee Jeep didn't release in photos yesterday.

Cherokee buyers can choose from a selection of four-wheel-drive systems that all feature Jeep's Selec-Terrain, allowing for effortless driving in snow, sand, mud or sport settings. There's even an available locking rear differential for serious traction. Or owners will just take it to the mall.

Check out the photo gallery of Jeep's newest model, the Cherokee, below. Cars.com photos by Evan Sears.

I think I'll keep my 03 Liberty.....

Todd

When I think of a Jeep Cherokee, I'm not thinking of a station wagon. The design is ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS!!!

Andy

They should have left it alone. That thing is ugly

Mel

Where's the Jeep Cherokee in the pictures? Must have been the wrong car showed...

peter

I miss the old bare bones, park ranger version of the Cherokee. It was reliable, went any where and was cheap!
This just looks like a slightly smaller version of Grand Cherokee.

Katie

This is hideous. Absolutely hideous. Jeep is known for looking boxy and tough. You can't take this sleek looking station wagon rock crawling. So stupid, just awful.

Michael

This vehicle does not say Jeep to me. It looks like a cross between a Pontiac and an Audi. Doesn't matter to me; I'd never own a Jeep or Chrysler product.

windysan

Nice AMC Pacer !

peter wu

Nissan Duke, you got a match now !

Carson

It's an abomination.

Brian

This is a yuppy model for the jeep want a
Be . I owned three Cherokees
And this one should not Carrie
The Cherokee badge

Carolyn

WTH! This looks terrible! Looks like some half-bred Pontiac. As a former Cherokee owner, I am sad. :-(

Java

So sad! I loved our old 2000 Cherokee Classic. Tough, dependable, rugged, and pretty basic. Fun as heck to drive with the inline-6 4.0L engine, and great in the snow. Bad move, Jeep.

Tom E.

Well, my wife was kind of hoping for a return to the previous Liberty styling (this *will* replace the Liberty, right?) I can tell you, after looking at this she'll probably be holding on to her '04 Liberty until it rusts from underneath her.

Cathryn Byrnes

My 1st real car was a CJ5 with no seatbelt a rag top and covered with bondo...those were the days. I'm not liking it, now looks like all the other SUVs sorry!

Bill Feagin

This is just godawful. Jeep, you should have left well enough alone. Whoever compared this to the Nissan Juke was spot-on.

Katie

This is precisely why we will drive our 98 Cherokee until it rusts out from under us. If I wanted a Chrysler Pacifica, I would have bought it. sigh.

how disappointing...I won't buy one now..it is UGLY!!!!

tony

Isn't it just a retrimmed Dodge Journey?

Shocked

Who designed this?????
Were they on DRUGS????
Hideous!

monicat

Mercedes never understood what made Jeep cool. Now they've just reduced the coolest thing Chrysler ever did into a minivan. My love affair with Jeep is over.

DRay831

It is not ugly,if you want something that looks like a CRV or Forester. But it doesn't look like a Jeep. You could see Jeep heritage (Willys Overland Wagon and pickup, Kaiser Gladiator, and the first Wagoneer)in the lines and proportions of the original Cherokee. That is gone. Other car makers have rejuvenated their sales with new models that mirror their classics of the past (Jag S-type and XKR, Ford Mustang, Dodge Challenger, etc). Competing with Subaru and Honda by slapping a Jeep logo on their designs is no way to build market share.

Michelle

Think I'll hold on to my 92XJ. The new design looks more like a luxery car. Sure can't imagine seeing it on the trails.

Monicat,
Mercedes (Daimler) and Chrysler separated in 2007. Chrysler is now controlled by Fiat.

Shawn

More evidence that the Italians (Fiat) really don't understand the American auto market (as if the 500 isn't evidence enough), Chrysler doesn't understand why people used to like Jeep, and Jeep executives clearly drink to excess at design meetings.

Corey

I thought Pontiac went out of business.

Infosaur

If all the harping is any indication, perhaps there's room in the market for another, more rugged and recilinear Jeep priced slightly below this?

Oh wait,,,, why don't you guys just go out and get a Wrangler X? What is the canvas top and road noise too agrairain for y'all?

So who are the Jeep driving city slicker posers here after all?

Vik

Infosaur- nice try with the straw man, but rugged styling, capability, and comfort are not mutually exclusive. The complaints most people have about this Jeep relate to the fact that it deviates too far from Jeep's iconic styling. There is a way to modernize the Jeep look without losing it completely- the Grand Cherokee does a good job of this. This Cherokee does not, IMHO, especially when you consider the model it is supposed to be related to. It has lost both capability and Jeep styling. People aren't complaining because they want to drive a Wrangler X. They are complaining because *this* is the replacement for the Jeep Cherokee and Liberty.

Dancer

Looks like another Venza knock off...ick.

katherine a sayre

Seriously???
Jeep became an icon thanks to the military. Boxy, Tough, No Nonsense. I went to Chevy after you took away the Cherokee. Bring the Cherokee Back...Please.

jeeper creeper

Another iconic American SUV falls to the crossover craze.

Sorry Jeep, I fully support you, but not on this. I want to like the new Cherokee, but I just can't. I defend XJ's against the hardcore Wrangler owners who say Cherokee can't compete with them, but I can't defend this.

Please at least take the Cherokee name plate off of this and call it something else. Call it the Crossover or something. Honestly, I would just stick the Cherokee name on the Patriot and go from there. It is closer to the original. Go with less models, but better quality.
Wrangler, Grand Cherokee, and Cherokee...that's it.

If the companies can keep making trucks rugged yet more efficient, then why can't Jeep continue with the Cherokee.

I'll drive my 96 real Cherokee until it can't drive no more, which will be a long time. If it does stop driving, I'll push it down the road before buying this so-called "Cherokee".

Jeep has lost it.
Your identity is gone
with this model. You are not Asian or Euro. Be American. Strength, focus,
purpose, simple, clean, design.

M.O.S.

I'm withholding judgement until I see this ride in person -- actually looks kinda cool to me! I still own and enjoy a '98 Jeep Cherokee as my mountain car, but am intrigued by this new model as a good gas mileage daily driver.

Lindsay

I just saw this at the 2014 X Games, and I like it. I watched the video on the trail rated version and I was impressed. This is definitely a contender on my list. I like the way it looks, but then I love change.
