Car crashes are the No. 1 killer of children ages 1 to 12 years old, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The correct child-safety seat installed properly is a strong weapon against these statics.

No one knows how to install a seat better than the pros. To be a certified car-seat technician, volunteers go through at least 30 hours of training. Find a seat check location here. Saturday is National Car Seat Check Day, so there will be additional seat check locations throughout the country staffed by qualified firefighters, police officers and other trained volunteers.
