Where Do the Worst Drivers Live?
Look out, Washington, D.C., motorists: According to an Allstate Insurance study, your drivers are the worst in the nation, Forbes reports.
In the insurance company's eighth annual America's Best Drivers Report, our nation's capital led the list of danger zones. To come up with the list, Allstate studied insurance claims in 200 cities over a two-year period. It found that Washington residents get into auto accidents once every 4.7 years on average. Allstate cites the national average at a car wreck once every 10 years per individual.
By state, California led with the highest number of offending cities; five made the top 25 list. Also on the naughty list are New Jersey, Florida and Virginia.
The safest roads for motorists are in Sioux Falls, S.D., where the average person gets into a crash once in every 13.8 years, the study found. Other safe cities include Boise, Idaho; Fort Collins, Colo.; Madison, Wis.; and Lincoln, Neb.

Really the whole idea of using statistical data is skewed, your chances of some one doing anything is greater in a populated area. Statically your wait on a corner till somebody drives by and hands you a bologna sandwich will be shorter the higher the population density. Figuring out where the worst drivers are should rely on anecdotal stories only. It stands to reason that the worst drivers are the one's you remember and tell other people about. My vote goes for the drivers of 50 ft. Winnebago's it doesn't matter where they are they still drive in the middle of the road looking lost.
When the snowbirds arrive in Sarasota, just watch out. There are not enough tow trucks to cart away the wrecks.
The safest places are places where human essentially do not exist.
Wow I thought new york had bad drivers or even Florida but I guess I am way wrong.

I don't know what kind of math you mean regarding your claim about the unreliabilty of statistical analysis, Greg, but accident reports (which I assume are the source of the ranking of cities' worst drivers) are not 'anecdotal'; they provide base data for reasonable mathematical extropolation--in other words, satistics can tell you based on past incidents of bologna sandwiches being tossed from passing cars, just how likely you are to get a sandwich thrown at you as you cross the street in YOUR town. In Miami, for instance, it would definitely be not sandwiches but styrofoam cups of hot cafe cubano. Math is an impressive thing, Man! It can keep you from suffering third degree burns on 8th Street in Little Havana!
As a former resident of Boise, I find the assertion that Boise drivers are safe (or even marginally competent) hilarious.
