#8: I certainly charge a customer more in diagnostic charges if they decline the repair. It's the cost of doing business. Diagnostic equipment and subscription services are very expensive, especially when you service almost ALL makes and models.
Ok so blame the mechanic: well sometimes they damage your car.
Brought in my car to have the clutch replaced the mechanic placed the lifter wrong and damaged the car did not affect functionality but the damage is done. another mechanic worked on the drive shaft in the process he forced/broke the rubber hinges that keep the exhaust pipe in place, neither mechanic bother to mention what they damaged, how do i know, I do maintenance and wash/detail my cars so i know their condition.
