Here's What a Base Cadillac ATS Looks Like
The 2013 Cadillac ATS has a starting price of $33,990, including an $895 destination fee, but that doesn't include the interior amenities you've probably assumed come with it after looking at Cadillac's image gallery or watching commercials for the car. Above is the base ATS' interior.
The base models, the 2.5-liter Standard and the 2.0-liter Turbo Standard, are the only ones equipped with a non-touch-screen system. Instead, it comes with a somewhat straightforward radio unit along with a 4.2-inch display, dual USB inputs, an SD card slot, auxiliary audio jack and a seven-speaker Bose audio system.
The radio unit's buttons are still touch-sensitive "capacitiveā controls. Buttons on the radio unit are for favorites pages (from left), power/volume radial, seek previous/fast reverse, seek next/fast forward, menu radial, homepage, radio, media, phone and back keys.
The rest of the center console is the same as what's available with the CUE multimedia system, except the base model has a top row of climate controls, including fan controls and an off switch for the climate system that are controlled through the touch-screen on models equipped with CUE. Like other models with CUE, the base ATS comes with a 5.7-inch display in the center console. The 2.5-liter Standard model can be equipped with CUE and a surround-sound system for an additional $1,350.
What do you think? Would you rather have these tactile controls or is the touch-centric route the better option?

I'd rather have the Verano w/ 250hp turbo for much less than this base 200hp ATS. The capacitive controls are a huge turn off to me as well.
Unfortunately, you can't build an ATS on Cadillac's site to get an idea of what you get for the money. Either something is wrong with the site of something is wrong with my browser. The build link brings up a mostly blank screen.
"Either something is wrong with the site of something is wrong with my browser."
Must be your browser. I've been building various ATS's with no problems.
you've been able to build an ATS on their site for weeks.
The return of the Cadillac Cimarron. We're a GM family and frankly I'm embarrassed they would sell this car.
if you refresh your page when you get to the chose your colour part.
With General Motors profits falling by 41% maybe the ATS will help get them back on track. I like the looks of the ATS and support GM but I will not support another bail-out.
i agree with Lance. i think i'd rather have a buick astra..ahem verano with the 2.0T engine.
i was really hoping the base model would come in slightly under $30k.
I doubt if you see many of these on dealer lots. They will have mostly the mid range models and loaded versions. The base model is all marketing to get you in the front door based on price. The Germans and Asians do it all the time.
@cody
Don't you mean the Buick Cruze?
I think it is a midget cts
there is no "buick Cruze". The Verano is more closely related to the astra than Cruze. Thats why its interior and exterior are totally different from Cruze.
Hopefully the ATS will be reliable unlike the Cruze. Our's has been in the shop 5x more than our Mazda which is twice as old.
How can you compare this to a verano or a cimmaron. This is a completely new chassis with RWD! I would prefer the base model because I like knobs and buttons that I can use without looking in a performance car. My wife and I looked at new Audis and BMWs and found the controls too complicated. We found the CTS to have a better control layout. I like the ATS base because the 2.5 sounds like it is more refined than BMWs 2.0 and it runs on regular gas.
