2013 Cadillac XTS Video

After nearly a year without a full-size luxury sedan, Cadillac gets a new flagship called the XTS. The 2013 Cadillac XTS has a well-appointed interior with a new intuitive and functional multimedia system called CUE, according to Cars.com Managing Editor David Thomas.

... 3:30 on a touch screen, and 1:30 on the Cadillac.
What happened to car reviews?

it was good to see some details on how CUE operated. many of the reviews have only talked about the basic functionality without really showing you much of how it actually looks.

We'll have a full written review published later this week. We film our videos and come up with an angle for each car based on what would be best for the video. The CUE system is the standout feature of the XTS so that's what we focused on most. I "tried" to make the rest a bit more humorous but it clearly didn't work out that way.

DT the video wasn't lost on us all. I got the direction you were taking with the video. Thanks for highlighting the CUE system. I was very interested to see how this system works.

since this is first with CUE it made sense to concentrate on CUE. Besides, you really cant tell much about how a vehicle drives from watching a video. Video is great for showing CUE however. The written review can address all the other issues regarding performance and interior space.

Thanks Al G and Sheth, appreciate it. I definitely could've delivered a few lines better though to kind of spell it out. Hopefully the review will redeem me. Still high on the car.

This is the "flagship" Cadillac has and could afford, not the flagship it wants and needs. If they truly want to be "the standard of the world" FWD isn't going to cut it.

Sorry, but I still don't think this CUE system can top Chrysler's UConnect. The CUE appears to have quite a bit of lag. Plus, swiping with your finger to change the volume is only cool when you're at a red light or a passenger. I think volume controls on the steering wheel is suffice. Also, some of the graphical user interface could be improved, such as the scrolling of preset radio stations, etc. However, the approach sensors, hidden compartment, and ability to store your favorite location settings (e.g., Starbucks) is pretty neat.

I ordered mine 6 weeks ago. Pick it up on Friday. Can't wait. I don't need or want a race car. I want a car that is comfy and has great tech. Fits my needs.

this isnt a flagship, its barely more expensive than the CTS. Its simply a full sized luxury car that will satisfy customers who demand more space than CTS offers. The base price of the Escalade is higher than a loaded XTS.

@ken:

This is far more advanced than Uconnect. Uconnect is basically a touch screen along with all the standard connectivity (Bluetooth, USB, etc.) you get in today's cars. CUE offers all the standard stuff but also allows a lot of customization and brand new tablet-like features. I dont agree about the graphics at all, they look sharp to me. As you noted, volume can easily be controlled from the steering wheel button if you dont like the slider.

Im sure Cadillac will debut something in the future to top the xts....I dont t hink its meant to be a permenent flagship.....give GM time folks....Caddy cant debut 3 vehicles at once!

sheth

word from the auto press is that a higher end car has been approved for 2014 or so. Everyone needs to keep in mind that the "flagship" class of sedans isnt exactly high volume. Cadillac should have something to compete just to fill out its lineup, but the sales will be driven by XTS, ATS, SRX, Escalade- not the $100k flagship.
