Recall Alert: 2012 Honda CR-V and 2013 Acura ILX

Honda issued two voluntary recalls to address faulty front door latches and handles. The first affects 166,000 model-year 2012 CR-V compact crossovers and the second involves 6,200 model-year 2013 Acura ILX compact sedans.

According to the automaker, simultaneous operation of the front door handle (on either side) and the manual or automatic lock could break the door handle release cable. If this happens, the door may not latch closed properly or come open unexpectedly, increasing the risk of injury. Honda says no accidents or injuries have been reported related to this issue.

Honda will notify owners starting in mid-August, and dealers will replace the affected parts free of charge. Starting in mid-August, Acura owners can call 800-382-2238 for more information and Honda owners can call 800-999-1009. For more info online, visit and

"...the door may not latch closed properly..."

This is a good reason to carry a roll of duct tape in your emergency road kit.
