Recall Alert: 2007-09 Hyundai Santa Fe

2007-hyundai santa fe
Hyundai is recalling 199,118 model-year 2007-09 versions of the Santa Fe midsize SUV because of a problem with the occupant classification sensor, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The affected vehicles were built from April 19, 2006, through July 7, 2008. (You can check your vehicle's build date on a sticker on the driver-side doorjamb.) The front passenger seat’s occupant classification system needs to be recalibrated to detect smaller adults. Improper classification could cause the airbag not to deploy in an accident. This could lead to an increased risk of injury.

Hyundai will notify owners soon, and dealers will update the software free of charge. Owners can call Hyundai at 800-633-5151 or NHTSA's vehicle safety hotline at 888-327-4236 for more info.

Hope

I am having this same trouble in my Tucson....I wonder if I should bring it in too.
When my daughter is in the seat, the sensor doesnt show she is there...

Adam

Children under 12 should not sit in seats with airbags.

I agree with Adam. A child may suffer serious injury or even be killed if an airbag is deployed in an accident. There are warnings on the window visors explaining this in detail; one should take heed to these warnings.
