Mazda Teases New Mazda6
Mazda showed off the swoopy Takeri sedan at the 2012 New York International Auto Show, and the automaker said the sedan's styling elements will make their way into a new production sedan. That looks to be the case, according to a video teaser for the next Mazda6.
The 21-second spot shows curvy detail shots of a sedan with a very CX-5-like grille. Watch the video below. The 2014 Mazda6 is expected to go on sale in early 2013.

But will it out sell the Fusion, Malibu, Accord, Altima, and Camry. The current Mazda 6 looks good, but it's not as popular as the other midsize sedans.
No, it will not outsell those cars. Mazda, as a company, is so much smaller than those others it's not funny so nobody in their right mind expects them to outsell the leaders. They just need to increase substantially from where they are at right now to have a success.
if the competition is within the company then I bet it is healthy. It only becomes rather uncomfortable when it spirals out of control. I know of certain companies such as bestop where this competition is quite healthy.
So will this be related to the Fusion or is the Mazda/Ford alliance no longer active?
No relation whatsoever. Ford may still have a very small stock stake, like 3% if any, but for all practical purposes they have been completely seperate for years. To my knowledge they have nothing joint....no shared facilites, no shared drivetrains, no shared r&d, etc.
The current Mazda 6 and Ford Fusion are built at the same plant, but I that's it. All facilities otherwise are completely separate.
Yes, that's correct. The current 6 is still being put together at Auto Alliance plant but that production is wrapping up right about now and the new redesigned Mazda6 will be built in elsewhere, probably Japan.
^^^ absolutely not. Mazdas will be built in Mexico.
Tony, they're being built in Japan.
The new Mazda 6 looks great, and yes, manufactured in Japan. Overall I think Mazda has done a nice job of producing an attractive car at affordable rates.
