Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid Headed to 2012 Detroit Auto Show

Volkswagen Jetta
The 2012 Detroit auto show is shaping up to be one exciting event! Volkswagen is adding to the anticipation with news that it will debut the Jetta Hybrid, along with an all-new concept vehicle, at the show.

The Jetta Hybrid will be the first Volkswagen sedan to get a gas/electric powertrain. Right now, only the relatively expensive Touareg SUV has one.

It will be interesting to see whether Volkswagen goes for enhanced performance or pure fuel efficiency with Jetta’s hybrid powertrain; we’ll have to wait and see. VW will unveil the car and the concept Jan. 9.

At first I thought the headline said something about a diesel-electric. I was almost really excited...

@ Rockaby,

That would make way too much sense. Let's not go using our brains here.

Diesel hybrid too heavy and too pricey to be practical. Volvo is supposed to be bringing one out for $90k.

VW Jetta + complexity of hybrid electrical drive system = SUPER unreliable car (VW can't even get the horn on the Jetta to work without blowing a fuse. What are the chances it can get a hybrid to work?)

it is interesting, but the price...ugh,its pricey.. i better wait another issue from http://www.mariohascars.com/. there should be great car with great prices
