Which Automaker Has the Best Pickup Truck for $30,000?

Which Automaker Has the Best Pickup Truck for $30,000The latest PickupTrucks.com Shootout is a different beast from its predecessors. Instead of choosing between similarly equipped pickup trucks, the focus of this Shootout is pricing. All the trucks in the competition had to stick to a firm $30,000 budget, leading to significant differences between them.

Five trucks participated in the Shootout:

  • 2011 Chevy Silverado 1500 extended cab
  • 2011 Ford F-150 regular cab
  • 2011 Nissan Titan King Cab
  • 2011 Ram 1500 Quad Cab
  • 2011 Toyota Tundra Double Cab

To see how the trucks fared through a vigorous barrage of testing, including four days of back-to-back driving and a long stint at Ford’s Michigan Proving Grounds, go to PickupTrucks.com.

My favorite is the Ford F-150. The Dodge (or, as it's now marketed "Ram") is tiresome. The truck has looked the same for over ten years and it's getting VERY old(!). Come on Chrysler (Dodge, RAM, SOMEONE)...please re-design the truck. It's time for a new look.

WTF

Regular cab by Ford. That was a major oversight.

The Ram got a major redesign for MY 2009. Yes, it retained its trademark big-rig look. Did you seriously expect them to abandon that? Still, it doesn't by any measure look the same as 10 years ago. Similar, yes. But then again no one would have trouble picking out the new Silverado as a Chevy or the F-150 as a Ford.
