2012 Infiniti FX: Ch-Ch-Changes

Infiniti’s latest-generation FX SUV hasn’t set the world on fire over the past few years despite a terrific powertrain and high-end interior. Perhaps the strange, shark-like styling had something to do with it.

For 2012, Infiniti has adjusted the look of the front end … but that’s about it. Besides the new grille, bumper and surrounding bodywork not much has changed for 2012.

You still get the same engine choices — a 303-horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6 or 390-hp, 5.0-liter V-8 — both teamed to a seven-speed automatic. The FX35’s base model has rear-wheel drive; the rest of the lineup is all-wheel drive.

Prices have increased for 2012. The 2011 base FX cost $42,600 and the 2012 FX base now starts at $43,450, not including an $895 destination charge. The 2012 FX50’s price has increased to $59,350 from $57,600 for the 2011 model. Infiniti hasn’t announced what features have been added to the 2012 FX50. The 2011 FX50 came standard with a navigation system and other features that were optional on the FX35.

Maybe it hasn't sold well because of its poor fuel economy not the shark like styling...

Fuel economy isn't as big a factor among luxury shoppers. Still a factor, just not as significant as it is for non-luxury brands. Doesn't help though that's for sure.

Why isn't the VQ37 the 'base' engine?
VVEL is supposed to be an 'Infiniti' thing.

It reminds me of the Hyandais of old. I think Inifiniti is off the mark with these. Why would you raise the price on a car that hasn't been selling well?

Price isn't as big a factor to luxury buyers either. And someone attracted to this is not going to consider an RX and vice versa for so many reasons besides price/value ratio.

So it may be little increase in logistic cost, but BIG increase in currency conversion :(

Apparently the marketing and finance departments do not communicate in the same language...raise the price on a slow selling vehicle. The shark snout just ruined the design.

that's the problem. they both aim for the same objective but forgot to coordinate..a little check and balance would have helped...

The reason for increase might also be the addition of optional features as standard on 2012 models. BTW, RX also increased by almost $1,000 from 2010 to 2011, may be some of it is due to freight costs increase or currency conversion or for the standard brake override system.
Whatever the reason might be, there should not have been an increase for 2012 FX since it is just a refresh and is slow selling.

Want to make sure that you dump all of your 2011s? Raise the price on the 2012s.

Fuel economy is definitely a factor for people who have enough money to buy a luxury brand. That's why BMW is dropping their smooth six cylinder engines in favor of buzzy four cylinders, while charging more, because it gets better mileage. It's why Mercedes builds a hybrid S class too. Anyone who thinks a luxury car buyer doesn't consider fuel mileage is off base. One reason rich people are rich is because they know how to not spend money they don't have to.

I know you guys ARE banning cheaters, but do you feel like you're banning the right ones? sure every hacker is equally guilty, but i would bet 98% of the population only cares about banning the guys in CZ with full krowaz sets and cursed weapons +8. People see the same guys k0xping them down week after week, and thats where the misconception comes that you guys arent actually doing anything, because if you were, the "main" k0xpers would be getting banned.

You see, that's the thing. We never stopped banning cheaters. We've just stopped announcing it in-game. Besides, I never announced my bans in any case. I always disabled that particular function because I saw it as a big warning beacon to all the cheaters that there was a GM online looking for them.

The amount of power is simply amazing on the FX50 (V8).

Combine that with a great chassis, 21" tires and a plethora of equipment (seats can warm you up or cool you down) and you'll understand the FX50 is a good value in luxury SUVs.

Sure, MPG isn't great but then again it's so much fun :)

If an item restoration ticket has been responded by C.S. by saying "lost items have already been restored", and the ticket closed, how should this be interpreted if the items have not actually yet been restored? Does it actually mean the restoration has been approved and is being worked on the queue, so just keep waiting? Or does it literally mean the restoration has already happened (but if no items were actually restored, should another ticket be written?) cribbble

As for my opinion on the matter? That lies in two different points: my opinion of the cheater, and my opinion of those who accompany those cheaters. For those who are using the cheats themselves? I find it frankly pitiful that they can't play a simple game of King of The Hill without having to resort to cheating. That speaks volumes about their lack of skill and integrity. For those unscrupulous users who party with cheaters so that they can win, or even worse, say that they need to do so in order to compete? Do us all a favor and uninstall KOL from your computers.
