A Glimpse of the Next Chevy Malibu Interior

Malibuinterior

We saw some sketches of the new Chevy Malibu’s exterior last week. Today, the company released the above image. It’s no sketch; this is the center stack of the Malibu showcar that will be revealed before the New York International Auto Show later this month.

While it certainly features a similar layout and color treatment as the Chevy Camaro and Equinox, the overall design isn’t as modern in appearance. The dual cockpit theme of the current Malibu looks to be carried over here, as well.

What do you think? Does this glimpse offer promise for the next Malibu?

For a better look, check out Car and Driver's spy shot of the entire interior... none of the design works together at all.

Yeah, the interior looks terrible. I think I'll stick with my Mazda6.

That spy shot must be of an early test mule. Check out the turn signal lever. It looks like the ubiquitous GM turn signal/cruise control/wiper control from the 80s and 90s! I can't imagine that's making a comeback. In other words, that mule must not have all of its parts yet.

Gauge cluster definitely looks like the Camaro. Yuck.

Do you want buttons? Or do you want knobs? Or, do you want touch screen?

Ah, to heck with it. Let's just throw everything in there!

I love the smell of cheap plastic in the morning, and this new Malibu certainly is over-qualified.

Nice car but yet . Chervolet Camaro still number one.

AR,

You've nailed GM's design philosophy on the head!

Mike

GM should have used the Volt as a starting point for the new Malibu design. The new Malibu looks overly fussy, especially with the Camaro styling cues in the rear that don't really look appealing on this sedan. I'm not a fan of retro styling as it should be appreciated for what it was then; not re-created. (Mustang being the ONLY exception) Time to move forward and stop living in the past. The inside is nice but not nicer than anything out currently.

2 words: ho hum

the materials are nicer, but there's more glossy "painted" plastic.

can't say I'm a fan of the design.

I love your blog very much, more more info, I will concern it again!

I appreciate the work of all people who share information with others. Great Blog!
