Recall Alert: 2011 Ford Explorer

2011 Ford Explorer

Ford is voluntarily recalling 1,658 2011 Explorers over the manual recliner mechanism in the second-row seat, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

In the affected vehicles, the recliner mechanism in the 60/40-split bench seat may have components that make seat noncompliant with federal safety standards. As a result, the seats may not provide proper strength, increasing the risk of injury. The vehicles involved in the recall were built between July 15 and Dec. 13, 2010. You can check your vehicle’s build date on a sticker located on the driver-side doorjamb.

The recall is expected to begin Feb. 14, and dealers will replace the seats at no charge. Owners may call Ford at 866-436-7332 or NHTSA’s vehicle safety hotline at 888-327-4236.

Ah yes...a recall to launch a new model...not a good start.

Yeah it is a good thing. Get the issue fixed b4 the vehicle takes off in sales. it saves ford money in the long run when it comes to fixing the present issue. Also, it's not like the recall is all over the television and online. it's being done like any basic recall, kept between the customers who own the vehicle and the automaker. All car companies have recalls, the only thing that matters is that they handle it accordingly and continue on.

I build these explorers in chicago. Recalls are always on
new cars and dudes right at least we are owning up to it and we are going to press forward. The explorer is an excellent vehicle. Check one out for yourself!

I have the new Explorer and love it! I'll go back to the dealer and get it fixed no big deal! The car rocks! Love, love it! I have the limited loaded with every option!

My left caliper went too. Was making a squeaking noise for about 2 months and then the caliper just went. Smoke and burning. Was out of warranty by 1000 miles. ford wouldn't fix it free of charge. bas****s. So if you here squeaking get it fixed.

Car has been in the shop for heating problems. Lift gate issues, sunroof leaks. Would never recommend a ford to anyone, or buy another one not reliable
