What Does This Button Do?

E350button
A few weeks ago we tackled a Mercedes-Benz R350 and its funky parking lights, and today we take a look at an optional button found in the new Mercedes-Benz E350 wagon. These buttons are located between the driver’s seat bottom and the center console that runs between the two front seats. The button says “Dyn” (photo above). Now “Dyn” is likely dynamic, but what can be dynamic about a seat?

Well, in this optionally equipped driver’s seat it means dynamic seat bolsters. If turned on, the seat bolsters will inflate to grip the driver’s side – for me that means love handles – on the opposite side of the turn. So if you’re driving on a highway off-ramp that turns right, the left bolster expands to better hold you in the seat. If you opt for the double red light setting, the bolstering is more aggressive, or I guess, dynamic, which I actually preferred. It takes some getting used to it, but I liked it in the end.

Oh, and the Puls button? That’s a nice shiatsu-like massage that was heavenly on my bumper-to-bumper morning commute where I don’t get to test the Dynamic bolsters.

cool feature, definitely has that wow factor. what do you think about the placement of these buttons though? seems like it could be awkward to wedge your hand between the center console.

So Europe forced dynamic side bolsters and one-side lighting upon the US and in return we got annoying bleepers and stickers everywhere stating the bloomin' obvious...

When are they going to build Sauna into cars?

How interesting, I never even knew Benz had that feature of the expandable bolster seats. I wonder if that comes with all newer Benz models or just the E-wagon. I would kill for a built in massager in my car, that sounds soooo goood....
