Tom Brady's Car Accident is Big News

Celebrities get in car accidents just like everyone else. This morning, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was in a car accident in downtown Boston today that seriously damaged his Audi S8 sedan and the other vehicle, a Mercury Villager minivan. The news hit ESPN's Sportscenter early this morning, and it most likely has the nation's fantasy football players worried.

Brady walked away seemingly unharmed, but one rear passenger in the minivan had to be rescued with the Jaws of Life and was taken to an area hospital. Witnesses said the crash was violent enough that the sound of it woke them from a deep sleep at 6:15 a.m.

Looking at early photos at the link below, it appears Brady’s Audi struck the side of the Mercury. However, there have been no details on which driver may be at fault. We also can’t tell if the airbags deployed.

The Audi S8 is a 450-horsepower sports sedan with a V-10 engine. It was last offered in 2009 at a starting price of $96,200. Brady has a sponsorship deal with Audi, and this S8 is likely a loaner car from the manufacturer since it sports New Jersey tags.

'this S8 is likely a loaner car from the manufacturer since it sports New Jersey tags'
This seems unlikely as Audi/VW does not have their HQ or any associated offices in NJ. (Many years ago, they were HQ’d in Englewood Cliffs, NJ. BMW USA has their HQ in Woodcliff Lake, NJ.) They recently relocated their HQ from MI to Herndon, VA.
While it is possible Brady has an arrangement with a NJ dealer, it would probably a non-marketing deal.

joemt,
Other sources have confirmed it's a loaner from Audi. Audi brings in its company cars from Germany through New Jersey ports.

What are you going to post on celebrity car accidents now? I recommend not going there.

How nice, the rich people get free $80k cars while the rest of us schleps have to pay for our lowly Fords, Hondas, Toyotas ourselves. Sickening.

I’m not buying that. There must be a NJ address associated with the vehicle’s registration. If it is an Audi loaner, they either have an office in NJ or a NJ dealer is the registrant.
The Port of Newark is one of the busiest on the eastern seaboard, so it makes sense to bring the company cars into NJ. It seems odd to me that an Audi USA company car would not have VA tags.

joemt,
every Audi test car we get at Cars.com and many BMWs, have New Jersey plates. These are used by journalists throughout the midwest as well. They are not for east coast use.

Style,
No, not normally, but this one was timely and shows an S8 taking a good hit with no injury to the driver and no airbags. Kind of interesting to see how the models hold up in a real crash. Plus, so far, it doesn't seem to be anything untoward about the accident.

David,
Regardless of the car manufacturers’ intended use of these vehicles, the registrant (be it Audi or BMW; maybe a 3rd party) must have a NJ address in order for their vehicles to be issued that state’s tags. That's my point... and, yes, it's a quibble.
After doing some research, it looks like Audi/VW has a presence in Cranbury and Woodcliff Lake, NJ.

Apparently, his head smashed off the steering wheel but the Bieber hair works like a reverse airbag so he was able to walk away unharmed. It’s not about style, it’s about safety.

Tom Brady's accident had made it to our list of craziest celebrity car accidents of all time.

Accidents can happen to anyone and at any time, and the pain and suffering can be magnified when you know that your accident was caused by somebody else's negligence and you were not at all to blame. What's worse is that these types if accidents and injuries can have a major impact on your life and even lead to long-term health problems and financial problems. You need to be comfortable with your accident solicitor and be able to speak freely and comfortably with them. With a comfortable, professional relationship established, a successful accident claim settlement will be within your reach.

Such a lucky guy, Tom Brady is. Maybe he's too important of a football player, so Lady Luck did her best to protect him that morning. I wonder if that accident caused his sponsorship deal to be canceled or something.
