2012 Jeep Pickup Greenlit for Production?
The news from Chrysler’s dealership convention keeps trickling in. There is word that a Jeep pickup truck will be produced by 2012, according to our friends at PickupTrucks.com.
This would be the first Jeep pickup offered since 1992. The model would reportedly be based off a four-door Jeep Wrangler JK Unlimited, but in a two-door cab configuration with limited space behind the front row for cargo.
The model is expected to go into production in the third quarter of 2011 and be badged a 2012 model year. For more info, visit PickupTrucks.com.

Bring on the Scrambler!! Loved both the Scrambler and the Comanche. Lots of good heritage..
Put a real motor in this truck and offer a spartan version without the "fancy-pancy" bells and whistles.
What a cool, little gem in a sea of boring, swollen douche-trucks. Say what you will about Fiat, but they sure understand how to manage niche brands like Jeep. They won't sell a ton, but they will be cult icons like the Comanche that build brand credibility. I second eagle2x's need for a stripper. How about desert tan, black vinyl interior with metal floorboards and a turbo diesel 4?
i think they need to put the new 3.6 and a six speed auto in the Wrangler before they do anything like this.
Bring it on. I can't believe its taken them this long. I haven't been this excited since I was a small boy at Christmas!
i do hope that they upgrade the engine in this truck, as well as the wranglers in 2012. the 3.8L v6 is ancient, inefficient, and weak. it's too bad they don't have the turbo-diesel that was being used in the liberty for a couple years. that would be a great option!
ugly, can't anyone make a good looking pu anymore. I'll wait for the new ford 100 supposed to look pretty good with an engine that will due more than pull a whore off of a piss pot.
Been waiting for this truck ever since I saw the concept. Great looking truck. Now hopefully they offer one without the crap you don't need in a jeep. So no climate control, no heated seats. Just a great 4wd system an improved engine and at least a 5 speed auto.
I love it! This was always one of my favorite PU, and I am looking forward to a new one.
Just love it? Bring it on, and give it a diesel.
bring it on .i have dakota pu & lv it my next step /mint
There is such a need for a smaller diesel 4x4 utility truck. Think weekend use here. Everything an old school jeep could offer plus alot more. DIESEL DIESEL DIESEL! Fuel economy and longevity....I plan to keep mine for 25 years and totally customize it. Cant wait! I already have my diesel sedan commuter, I have been waiting for something like this since my last two jeeps
Been waiting for this truck ever since they stopped production on my beloved Commanche...
LOOKS GREAT! JUST GIVE ME A PLAIN JANE 4X4 TRUCK WITH MANUAL HUBS, 5-6 SPEED MANUAL TRANNY. NO BELLS AND WHISTLES!! JUST LIKE THE SCRAMBLER USED TO BE, THATS ALL A TRUE JEEPER NEEDS
I love Jeeps, had several and will always have a couple. My dad and I both love this truck and both would buy one if they build it. We hope they offer it with a Diesel option as do many other interested Jeepers
I will buy this truck new, with a great power train warranty, a lot of 4 wheel bells and whistles(like factory winch, off road lighting, manuel hubs, The best functional tires and wheels, storage options) but, I like my comfort so, I want the best rally style seats, air conditioning, and Automatic trans, I don't care diesel or gas, but diesel would be nice, if we go sort of old school. Be able to jump start it and it will run.
Saw one at the dealer today and really liked it:)
