Nissan Releases New Quest Minivan Images Online

2011Quest1

Another automaker is using the power of the Internet and social media to tease a new vehicle. Minutes ago, Nissan released these six images (above and below) using Twitter, Twitpic and its own site.

Nissan says the Quest will go on sale in early 2011. We’ll get a look at it at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show in November.

The design looks pretty wild for a minivan, with a boxy back end and lots of glass visible. The interior looks simply gorgeous and is obviously the most upscale trim level. Tell us what you think of the new Quest in the comment section below.

This is the Elgrand, the JDM version of Quest (both are now made from same factory in Japan, sharing much of everything b/n the 2). Other than the "lights" and grille, everything else looks identical (expect L/RHD, of 'coz). I like the Elgrand better - even more "wilder" than what's out there in the the US.

I don't want to say if it is good or bad but here is what I see:

In the front Kia kissed Sienna. Side was designed in Hyundai studios. And on the back, Mazda got married with 1960 Ford Econoline.

Inside it looks Ok besides that shifter is on the way of everything else.

Generally, I think, it will compete well by it odd looks with new Oddy but may be not by function... while Sienna will continue to be minivan for the masses.

Tony
Traditionally Odyssey outsells Sienna, but last month the new Sienna outsold the outgoing Odyssey by less than 100 units.

I'd expect new Odyssey to do much better.

Quest never broke through before despite raves from Owners. We'll see how the new one fares next year.

I'm seeing mitsubishi outlander in the headlights and ford flex from the side shot. Not in love with it, interior is nice but as tony said the shifter is in the way. Why not just go back to the old column shifter?

I can't believe the gear shifter is still where it is!

Also, the rear sorta reminds me of the Ford Flex.

Overall, I like the exterior but don't like the interior.

Rockaby,
All minivan shifters are now in that area. Odyssey, Sienna and the Chryslers are a bit harder to reach!

Amuro,

The first thing I thought of is the Elgrand too.

If nissan can deliver good mpg this van is going to take away some sales from Honda.

"Eng off" indicator above the odometer--does that mean it has an idle stop feature?

Tony

Dave,

give us some numbers. I am sure that after 2004 Sienna was pretty good on numbers versus Oddy.

Also, when Quest was twin of Villager, it seems they were doing OK. I still see those on the road daily. I myself had 2000 Villager and I like it.

David

If it has AWD I'll take it. Boxy end is kinda ugly, but probably makes the trunk pretty big.

Previous "rumors" have indicated that the VQ3700cc engine will be the choice engine. Looking @ G/M37 #s, mileage is pretty good. Looking the FX37...so so mileage. The question isn't really 'bou whether Quest will get good mileage; the question is 'bou whether Nissan will import the fuel saving version (based on history of Elgrand) into the US.

I would be extremely happy if Nissan will put its NEW hybrid engine (not the Altima one) into the Quest...(the new diesel engine may not be suitable for a vehicle of this size/weight)

This is really attractive! I like both exterior and interior, clean and modern. Is there word about any novelties present in the car and nowhere else in the market?

John Ny

Nissan is always daring with their designs and that was made clear with the first major last model. This one seems to have all that is needed to be competitive especially how the engineers usually tune how it drives most importantly. Glass seems to travel all the way to the rear and they finally have actual working windows in the sliding door. the interior is where it should be with quality. good thing the fuel/temp gauge isnt digital (i know plenty of people who hate the digtal readout)

Hokus Pokus

Nissan Cube owners are now having kids?

Ste (Original SG)

mann... I like this but, I really find the Elgrand way more elegant than the looks of this. They took out all the designs that made the Elgrand the Elgrand and just americanized it... Hopefully the JDM Elgrand exterior could come over as an Infiniti.

Aussie

VERY VERY japanese styling used in this van now, now they need the japanese spec Odyssey which is 100 times better looking than the american version, then there will be some good competition

jett1000

I see some 2011 Mazda5 in the taillights, and strange as it seems, the front reminds me of the 2011 Ford Edge's front because the grille and lights flow into each other like the edge.

with all major auto players bringing their best in the market...... this one from Nissan gonna rock too.....Beautifully designed and just look at the interior inside..... awesome.........

The interiors of this and the new Sienna are a little funky. I prefer the Chrysler twins.

Am I the only one who thinks that this new quest looks like the Nissan Forum concept?
