Ch-Ch-Changes: 2011 Infiniti Lineup

Infiniti is making slight changes to its entire 2011 model year lineup, in addition to redesigned models like the M sedan and QX56 SUV

The G series will receive two new “product extensions” to be announced Aug. 13-14, the company says. These could be new body styles or performance variants. We’ll keep you posted when we get more information on that later this summer.

Read below for more information regarding the 2011 updates to the rest of the Infiniti range:

The 2011 Infiniti EX gets a standard seven-speed automatic, replacing the 2010’s five-speed, and a new set of 18-inch wheels (last year’s were 17-inchers). Dual-zone automatic climate control is now standard. The model gets an available blind spot warning system added to the Technology Package. A new Premium Package combines last year’s Navigation, Bose and Around View Monitor packages. The new EX will go on sale in October.

The 2011 Infiniti FX gets a standard power liftgate. The FX50 downgrades to a set of standard five-spoke 20-inch wheels (they were 21-inchers in 2010). The new FX goes on sale in October.

The 2011 G sedan gets a Limited Edition model, which includes unique exterior and interior treatments and sport-tuned steering. There’s also a Sport Appearance Package. The new sedan is available in September.

The 2011 G convertible and coupe get revised front clips, and the fog lamps are now placed near the front air dams as opposed to near the headlamps.

The Navigation Package is now standard on the Sport 6MT trim on both models. The coupe and convertible go on sale in November.

All G series models now come standard with Scratch Shield Paint, which can eliminate minor scratches in the clearcoat over time.

G25 might be the news on Aug. 13-14.

They already have a sedan, coupe and convertible G. The EX is a nothing more than a G hatchback so what other kind of body style could they come up with???

The new product extension announcements are probably the G25 and maybe a G20T, with a 2.0 4cyl turbo sourced from Mercedes. G25 for sure as they will be hitting showrooms this fall according to Infiniti dealers. They already have some option pkg info on them.

FX is only now getting a power tailgate standard? Not acceptable for the price they charge. Unless Infiniti comes up with some better designs and more interesting products its days as a sustained brand are numbered. The new M is just okay and needed to be a home run. Overpriced and boring will not make it in the new auto market. There needs to be value, like the original 91 G-20, which redlined at 7,500 rpm and had better fit, finish, styling and performance than the German makes in its class.

Zack, you're full of crap. You get way more features on the base M37 than you will with the 5 Series. If you want all the features on the Bimmer that you get with an M, you have to pay $10-15,000 more.

Ed, The BMW is not a gussied up, rebadged version of another car, like the M, which is sold as a lowly Nissan in other parts of the world. That's why it rightly sells for less than the BMW, which is a luxury brand through and through. Sorry to report that Infiniti also has poorer resale value for the same reason. The M37 has a base price of 47K and with any options they're mid 50s. The M56 easily hits 62 to 65K, so they're not the screaming bargain you make them out to be. The market will decide whether Infiniti has the style, quality and performance to command the prices they charge. Current sales numbers and resale value support my opinion. Maybe you should buy one if you think they're such a good deal.

BMW a luxury brand?
I always thought that BMW is a performance brand. I can name a few luxury cars without performance of BMW.
Infinity M = Nissan Fuga
Infinity G = Nissan Skyline
Infinity G20 = Nissan Sentra

My cousin just got M37. I don't think this car will find wide customer base. It is strictly sport oriented with luxuries, which doesn't make it luxurious. Back seat is cramped and 3 people in the back practically impossible. Entry and exit from the rear is pretty uncomfortable as you need to twist your body and feet.
On the other hand, my friend just got BMW 535i Gran Turismo - this is different story in the interior.
