New 2011 Nisan Juke Photos

2011nissanjuke
We’ve seen the Juke before. We’ve shot a video of it, we sat in it, judged it, but now Nissan is revealing images of the official version that will go on sale this fall. Yes, all those other images were of the European versions. Are there a lot of differences? Not really, but the few dozen photos below show new angles, a silver exterior and a spiffy little display for a new performance setting.

Ben

I want one but not sure how I am going to get used to the ugly front end. It looks like an old man who has lost a lot of teeth.

jim

Wow, how can they pack so much ugly in one vehicle? What if they introduce this, and NOBODY [not one person!] buys that thing?

Tony

They just don't learn. Remember Vehicross?

Anyway. Polluting Nissan parking lots with these things will be the result.
How people buy cars? Some for Attractiveness, some for practicality, and others for utility.
This car has none of those. Only some really weird people will buy this thing.

Mike

What is the point? Doesn't Nissan already have the Rogue; which is almost as hideous?

Ziggy

A far cry from all the bland crap we keep seeing from other manufacturers. Can't wait to see one up close.

I like it. If you're looking for a Versa or a SX-4 on steroids this is it and a lot more practical than a MINI. Nice hp/torgue combo, little bit of hauling ability, go in the snow, get good mpg and be a little different. It's easy to just dismass and say it's ugly but after really taking a good hard look it kind of grows on me.

Look at all the 50+ that buy the Scion Xb when most people thought it was ugly at first. If the seat height is right and it's easy to get in and out of and has some pep I would buy one.

tscurt

Is there ANY chance of it looking better than it photographs?

Mike,
The Juke is really small, like a Mini Clubman small or their new Countryman. It'll be AWD and has a turbo good for nearly 200 hp.

It should be a fun to drive little car.

In person I liked the looks, but I like it in these photos too. There are some really bad angles, but the provile and rear are better for sure.

Reggie

I am unable to see door handles on the rear doors. Are they blended in with the C-pillars?

Tony

Lance,

Scion xB has great utility and comfort. I think, xB is not pretty, but not too ugly. I would get one for its qualities if Toyota would put something like 2.0L engine into it to improve MPG. Ok, they can keep 2.4L , just improve MPG in general.

Notice! There is not even one pic of the backseat. I think, because it is not presentable.

SG (not original SG)

It is the turn signal-high beam cluster above the front fenders that makes the front end ugly.
Overall I like the shape and the lines flow very nicely from the from to the end. Please relocate the turn signal cluster to somewhere.

FlanKitty

Dear Nissan: hope you didn't blow too much money into this, I would hate to see the sales figures.

Reggie: the handle for the rear doors is behind the side windows

Tony: here's the back seat, sorta http://www.netcarshow.com/nissan/2011-juke/800x600/wallpaper_3c.htm

sheth

new photos, same ugly front end. Its an abomination.

arni

..Is there a contest on between vehicle designers as to who can design the ugliest vehicle and bring it to market the fastest???..this "thing" has more unecessary angles, adornments that are just a waste of time and energy!..especially if it's supposed to be a 'practical' vehicle..what gives???..

Ste (Original SG)

haha, I agree with SG on this actually. And yes Reggie, they are in the C-pillar; just like the Chevy Spark. I was never fond of those because if you have small kids they usually cant reach it, and you know them and dependency. They always wanna do things on their own. Overall, I like it though. Just relocate the front indicators, they ruin the lines. This thing is being advertised as a hatchback and not an SUV correct?

Tony, what was wrong with the vehiCROSS?

Aussie

dashboard looks like something from an old american p.o.s

Tony

Ste,
Vihicross lived for couple of years and died.
I mean, if Porsche sells more cars then you (Saab), you must be in trouble. Ok, Nissan will not be in trouble, mostly. But owners of the few Jukes sold will be.

cody

damn, i like it from every angle except the front. i actually find myself trying to think of the ways the designers could have finished the front to make it look decent...guess i'll have to see it in person.

This is the perfect car that my husband is planning to buy. Looks different in every angles esp the interior. Cool!

DodgeFan

The front turn signals make me think of Pontiac AzTek, there I said. Maybe an extended-trip City Car is their market, if they price it right. Otherwise I think the Rogue covers. Interesting technology with engine but looks throw me off too.

Peppy

New Odyssey or the Juke to take the place that the Aztec held for years as the most ugliest vehicle?

TK

Peppy-

The Odyssey is more hideous than this. I can somehow justify the ugliness of the Juke, but theres no excuse for the Odyssey.

Craig

I don't know what everyone's complaining for! I'm looking to buy my first car and I really love this car! It looks different from every other car out there. One of my classmates drives a Rogue, my best friend has an Escape, and my girlfriend drives a Jeep Compass. They're all nice cars but they all look the same-boring. I will definitely consider the Juke along with the new Hyundai Tucson simply because they look really cool!

WestPhillyForever

I like it. I see some of the best of Kia (profile) and Volvo & Infinity (rear) in there in particular. I even like the front-end more than I did when I first saw it.

I'll be curious to see what kind of interior room you get in it.

Belly

I love vehicles like this. The styling gets all the conventional folks in a tizzy. I don't think Nissan will sell a ton of these, but every time one goes by...

And it is no Aztec. This face may be odd, but the body is really nice.

Johnny

Honestly (in my opinion) the front doesn't look as jarring in person. I was just in Japan and saw a couple of them. It looks better than what these photos seem to show. Either way I like this car. I think it's odd and quirky.

sheth

"And it is no Aztec. This face may be odd, but the body is really nice. "

its very much an Aztek. Only less practical. People who like "quirky" (aka, ugly or odd looking) cars will like this. Problem for Nissan is that there arent enough of those folks to make this successful. This will sell in low volumes just like the ugly Cube.

I seem to remember similar comments when the CRV and Rav-4 came out in the late 90's. They were called ugly, quirky and cute-utes...hmmm.

-Only GM would actually build an Aztec.

"I seem to remember similar comments when the CRV and Rav-4 came out in the late 90's. They were called ugly, quirky and cute-utes...hmmm."

I dont remember any such comments. hmm....

Toyota and Honda generally dont take design risks and thus they dont design many polarizing vehicles that turn people off. CR-V and RAV4 werent good looking, memorable or stylish when they debuted (or today) but they were inoffensive.

AL.G

Interesting design. Funky. I dig the overall shape of the vehicle. I like the back end but, I just can't stand the front headlights. The young folks will probably love it.

Belly

thus they dont design many polarizing vehicles that turn people off.
-Yes. They have good design teams. It is good of you to mention.

Ziggy

"Toyota and Honda generally dont take design risks and thus they dont design many polarizing vehicles that turn people off." Interesting comment from someone that has criticized the design of the Pilot, Odyssey, Crosstour, etc.

sheth

"The young folks will probably love it. "

thats what they said about the odd looking Scions. It hasnt worked out too well.

"Interesting comment from someone that has criticized the design of the Pilot, Odyssey, Crosstour, etc. "

I dont think old Hondas are ugly, just boring. The new Hondas are a different story. I said they GENERALLY don't design ugly vehicles- that doesn't mean NEVER. Got it now? I think the current Odyssey is decent looking for a minivan, certainly superior to the new Sienna with its ridiculous chrome grille.

"-Yes. They have good design teams. It is good of you to mention. "

Good design teams compared to whom? Many of the dullest or ugliest vehicles to debut recently are from Toyota and Honda. Have you not seen the HS250, Crosstour, Ridgeline, the freshened 2010 RAV4, Avalon, TL, ZDX, GX460, Corolla, etc.? Come on, try to be serious man. Toyota/Honda have NEVER been design leaders and neither has been known for iconic designs. They are known for reliability and making cars as cheaply and efficiently as possible. They are good at the production side, not so good at compelling design. How many "classic" Toyotas/Hondas get top dollar at auto auctions? People dont remember what they designed 10 years ago, much less 40 years ago.

Belly

thats what they said about the odd looking Scions. It hasnt worked out too well.
-Wow. Ignorance meet bliss.

Come on, try to be serious man.
-Seems like people like em no? Just because you don't have taste, well, that doesn't mean anything, to anyone. Just keep riding that "Buick is the best" bandwagon - the Regal and Enclave are nice, but the Lacrosse and Lucerne, they aren't worth sneezing at.

Have you not seen the HS250, Crosstour, Ridgeline, the freshened 2010 RAV4, Avalon, TL, ZDX, GX460, Corolla, etc.?
-So you mean GM's non-existent hybrid is looking good? Along with the Avalanche, the Terrain, the Impala (hah! Great design there), the DTS, the SRX (and however many other cars will end up having the almost exact same face - there's a design challenge for ya), the Cobalt, the G5, the Aveo, the Cruze, the Oldsmob... oh wait that's right GM's designers couldn't keep that one afloat... not to mention GM's best efforts to make Saab into the most characterless vehicles possible... yeah I would say they are hitting it will all cylinders!

How many "classic" Toyotas/Hondas get top dollar at auto auctions?
-Oh now this is very funny. How did the 70's and 80's go for the automakers whose cars fetch top dollar at auctions? Who even shops at classic auto auctions anyway? What like the top 1% (or less) in the country?

People dont remember what they designed 10 years ago, much less 40 years ago.
-Eh... okay. You mean when Honda produced like 2 models (which would fetch a good price if you can find them). Good point again?

Ste (Original SG)

Tony,
the VehiCROSS was a limited production vehicle, they weren't supposed to sell like hotcakes, but as a halo car to bring people into their dealerships. It worked, and the VehiCROSS was an exponential off roader. was never supposed to be sold for a long period of time, or in large quantities.

1487sheth1487

If this vehicle were built by GM I would like it. But because it's an import?

Give me a break. This is an abomination.

Arthur

The front looks like an older Subaru Tribeca on crack. Subaru changed the design because of slow sales. The back looks like a Volve that ate too many donuts and burgers. By the looks of it, the rear visibility is bad and no rear storage room. GOOD LUCK Nissan!

Drew Z

Wow. And I thought Honda's designers were the only ones on crack.

This thing is hideous!

There are a bunch of videos and stuff posted on "Thejukeclub" There is lots of information starting roll in on this car.

moreplease

Lovely looking car. More on it on facebook though http://www.facebook.com/#!/NissanJukeOfficial?ref=ts

david

pure ugly it might drive like a dream but i would not buy one

Niko

There are many types of cars.
SUV and e.t.c.
The Juke is definitely VUV type(Very Ugly Vehicle)

Juke LOVER

Tony+Jim+David+niko,

Those totally Juke haters, mind your own business! If you guys got taste, let's see what you drive! Perhaps something trashy, no class, and nothing comparable to the Juke? Jim, YOU ARE WRONG! I am somebody who is that one person who bought that thing. TOny and David, the Juke appear to be "ugly" in your eyes but it's a car that drives like a dream which you'll never get to drive one. Niko, the Juke is definitely VUV type(Very Unique Vehicle) and it is definitely NOT for people with no style like you!
