Recall Alert: 2003 Toyota Sequoia

032003Sequoia
The Detroit News is reporting that Toyota will recall 50,000 2003 Toyota Sequoia SUVs due to problems with the stability and traction control systems. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says it has at least 64 complaints about the systems engaging at “inappropriate” times. Toyota counts 96 reports.

Toyota says there are several issues responsible for the problems that can include loss of throttle control, braking and brake light illumination once the traction control system engages.

We expect to hear more from Toyota directly about the recall.

The news comes just weeks after the company’s brand-new 2010 Lexus GX 460 was recalled for a stability control problem that was discovered by Consumer Reports.

So according to the DN story, they've issued 3 TSB's, yet still charged customers $1,500 for the fix. Yet some people still trust them to do the right thing? Maybe now that there's a gun to their head it seems.

Ugh. I will throw a party when toyota does not come through all of this bad publicity. I heard that now they are recalling cars that won't go. i find that just hilarious

They said they will contact me shortly. got a call from Stone mountain Toyota mountain in the afternoon. yeah, they’re sure quick to respond BUT…they’ll charge a diagnostic fee and whatever else that need to fix the VSC TRAC light. WTF!!! Are these people for real???? On the side note, what a coincident that my Infinity G35 coupe 2005 also in the recall. I have no F_king luck.

At any rate the Sequoia won't collapse after 3 years like Ford.

Update!! Toyota never get my VSC/TRAC problem fix even though it's in recall. I was told by the dealer AND toyota corporation that in order the get the problem resolve(recoding the computer chip), i will have to pay for the VSC/TRAC computer chip replaced which will cost me $1200. Really Toyota!!! I am about to purchase a new vehicle and it won't be a Toyota.
