Oprah Turns Attention to Distracted Driving

Oprah
It looks like distracted driving just made a powerful enemy.

Talk show host Oprah Winfrey will team up with the Governors Highway Safety Association and several other government agencies to raise awareness of the dangers of distracted driving. Her pitch focuses on the use of cell phones and other digital devices while behind the wheel.

Winfrey’s new campaign is called “No Phone Zone,” which she’ll kick off Friday on her show with interviews that include government officials and family members of victims of accidents caused by distracted driving.

She’ll follow up with rallies in several major American cities, including Atlanta, Detroit and Los Angeles — with a focus on encouraging people to leave their mobile devices alone when operating a car.

Bryan

There goes another one of the elite ultrarich snobs telling the common man what to do. Meanwhile she doesn't have to worry about not being on the phone while sitting in the back of her limo. Can't she go build another school so that the teachers can beat the students?

I'm actually glad on this cause she does have a very large fanbase who are loyal and do listen to her.

Talking/Texting on a cellphone is my BIGGEST pet peeve when driving. Just this past week I was heading down the boulevard and upon coming up to a red light, I had a minivan full of kids and a license plate stating "1dermom" cross 4 solid lanes right in front of me cutting me off. So as I pull up next to "Miss Wondermom" shes there on her phone laughing, not realizing how much danger she had just put her kids in. Then three days later, I come up to a slower moving car and begin to pass. Next thing I know I'm trading paint with a kid in a red cavalier as he is texting his buddy. Honestly, is a text or call just THAT important for the potential hundreds to thousands of dollars of damage or even loss of life?

I saw this show, and I agree with Bryan! I beat that she would text if she was driving!
