Gas Prices Climb as Spring Nears

Pumpinggas
We warned you a month ago that gas prices would head north for summer, and it appears that ascension is under way.

The national average price for a gallon of gas rose 3 cents this week, which may not seem like much, but that caps off a 20-cent rise in the past month. The national average as of today was $2.81 for a gallon of unleaded, compared with $2.61 a month ago, according to AAA’s Daily Fuel Gauge Report. Senior editor David Thomas saw prices at his suburban Chicago Shell station go up 10 cents overnight when he drove past a “$3.09 for regular” sign this morning.

As the weather warms and the number of miles being driven begins to tick upward, look for demand to increase and prices to rise further. Experts still predict prices to top out around $3.25.

Yay spring!

Dont keep cribbing, either buy a hybrid or flex-fuel.

Brazil has sold 10 million flex-fuel vehicles so far and America has sold 8 million.

By the summer, E15 fuel will hit the market. Lets hope that reduces the increase in gas price.

I bet that evil Toyota is behind the rise in gas prices. I can't wait until our Messiah Barry Obama and his Union friends brings this to the publics attention. I'm sure he'll do that right after he gets around to creating a job for someone.

This will sure kill SUV and truck sales again.I still dont see any full size (or compact) trucks EPA rated 30 mpg yet....

I hope gas goes above $3 and stays there because there are still too many Hummer, Suburban, Tahoe, Explorer, Trailblazer driving A-holes out on the road. I just laugh when I see them pumping $75 into their tank.

I think the only way to be less dependent and affected by gas prices hike is to change our commuting travelling habits. Either to use commuter transit systems if available or to form a carpool. I tried the driving cost calculator of the carpooling network ( http://www.carpoolingnetwork.com ) and they suggest huge savings for carpoolers: up to 2000$ and 1,5 tons of GHG per year.
