Three VW Special Editions Now on Sale
One thing we’ve always liked about Volkswagen is its penchant for interesting special editions of its cars. Today, the company announced that its latest small-run packages are on sale now. We detail the three editions below, including pricing and more photos.
2010 Jetta TDI Cup Street Edition
While there is a high-performance trim of the standard gasoline-powered Jetta called the GLI, there’s nothing spiffy for diesel buyers. The TDI Cup Street Edition makes up for that, adding suspension and brakes straight from the GLI. Eighteen-inch wheels and a full body kit are also added. There are unique seats and steering wheel inside as well. It’s powered by the same high-torque turbo-diesel as a standard TDI and is available with either a six-speed manual or DSG transmission. It starts at $24,990. A base Jetta TDI starts at $22,830.
The daring design of the CC made a dramatic impact on the sales front, and the R-Line certainly doesn’t detract from the model’s good looks. A more aggressive front bumper is one nice addition, as are unique 18-inch wheels. Seventeen-inch wheels are standard. Dress-up features include smoked taillights, aluminum doorsills and other R-Line badging. You can get the R-Line only with the 2.0 turbocharged four-cylinder, but with either a six-speed manual or DSG transmission. It starts at $29,590. A base CC with six-speed manual starts at $27,760.
2010 New Beetle Red Rock Edition
Unlike the other two special editions, the New Beetle will come in just one color, in just the coupe body style and will be limited to 750 units. The color is called, surprisingly enough, Red Rock Metallic, and it has a black roof for a two-tone look. Unique 17-inch wheels and a sport suspension are also added, bringing the total price to $23,390. A base New Beetle hatchback starts at $18,690.

Please tell me that CC comes in colors other than white.
Jimmy Buck,
We're still waiting on confirmation, but I believe it is just an option package so it'll come with other colors.
What's up with the Beetle, I thought there was supposed to be the Final Edition this year and then they were done, at least with this generation.
I'm liking the Jetta TDI Cup though.
Deffinately digging the Jetta TDI cup edition for sure. wouldnt mind to have one of those. The CC R-Line looks nice too, but shouldnt we leave the "R"'s to Volvo? what does the "R" stand for anyways?
Maybe it's like S-Line, but just scaled down a notch back down to R lol
R = racing.
Anyway. Considering VW chronic reliability issues I have to scratch them all from my shopping list.
I really like most of the VW products but I read what kind problems they have. Like big engine problems, electrical problems that can't be fixed.
There is another thing about them. They get loose with age. I drove my friend's 8 yo Jetta and, I mean, it felt like it needed to bolt powertrain and suspension back to its body. My 12 yo Protege feels extremely tight even today. And it had all its original assembly.
But I love the way VW are designed these days. Nice interiors.
Unfortunately, cool is not enough for me. I want quality stuff.
Tony
I agree with you on VW quality. A co-worker had a VW diesel. It had about 50,000 miles on it when the turbo went out on it, at a cost of $2,400. He used to rub our noses in it on the fact that he would get close to 50 MPG. Since the repair, he has not talked much about how good a car it is.
A $2,400 repair bill must feel like a kick in the groin. Maybe that's why they call it the "cup" edition.
Jimmy Buck,
saw one in silver at the Chicago Auto Show.
