Nissan Confirms Juke Crossover Coming to U.S.

Front angle

Nissan has officially confirmed that its new Juke small crossover SUV will be available in the U.S. this fall. Built for an international audience, the Juke will first be shown at the Geneva auto show this March. We’ll get a first glimpse of the U.S.-bound Juke in late March when it makes its North American debut at the New York auto show.

Nissan says the Juke will be sporty alternative to traditional small hatchbacks with a coupelike profile, aggressive wheels and tires, and a motorcycle-inspired interior.

That would definitely keep their long streak of ugly suvs and crossovers going.

SG

i wont say its ugly, but it is obviously japanese styling. probably too japanese for american tastes.
when i first saw this i thought it was an SUV...

call me crazy but I love this thing.

Ziggy

This is cool. Don't really care for the positioning of the headlights but it is definately cool. Most americans won't like it because they prefer boxed off bland styling thats been fed to them for years.

H

You are CRAZY!

sjonesrones

I guess we now know the next big thing in interior design: transmission tunnels! This one looks great with its motorcycle fairing theme.

John

What are they thinking?

Daniel

The interior is cool, the outside is terrible. It reminds me of the Isuzu Vehicross. The Ford Edge will defiently out sell this thing.

SG

Ziggy, then why didnt the 02-04 Ininiti M45 resonate well with americans?

I never said i thought it was ugly, i think it looks awsome. thats probably because i grew up in Japan and was exposed to this funky and quirky styling. Im there with you Dave.

Tony

Hello, Monster!

Or

Return of the RAV-4, the original

Ok, interior will work for young Obama-maniacs but outside...
Well, it is slicker then Aztec

Ziggy

The 02-04 Infiniti M45 was just plain ugly...Aztek ugly. Americans do have some taste. Besides no one buys many Infiniti's anyway.

Daniel -
the Ford Edge is in a different class.

But actully what class would this fall in? It's smaller than the Rogue.

Max Reid

Hold on guys.

This is a small CUV which will be a taller alternative to hatchbacks & wagons.

May be it will come in Jeep-Compass range. CUV's have outsold SUV's by 2:1 margin last year and even overtaken Pickups (traditional leader).

People want vehicles with more cargo space and Sedans dont provide this, hence such CUV's.

This should give atleast 35 MPG, since the bigger Chevy Equinox gives 32 MPG.

Lets see how it does.

Steve

I love it! I was going to pull the trigger on an Equinox but now I think I'll wait.

JG

Overall I dig it. Anyone care to take a stab at the pricing on this?

Tony

Max Reid,

we all wish Equinox would ever make 32mpg. So far no test has confirmed it. Unfortunately tests returned much worst results for Equinox. I think, Equinox's mpg is Government conspiracy.
But this car mpg? Take Versa, its base, subtract 2-3 mpg and here we go.

size wise this is gonna compete with a Mini cooper but a bit bigger. Don't have exact dimensions though.

Al G.

Love the interior and dig the rear but hate the front end. It is IMHO atrocious. I've gotten used to Murano's grill but this one is too much. Hopefully Nissan will come to its senses and tame this thing down a bit for the American markets. Start by moving those round headlights and fixing the grill up a bit

insight

Nissan is always on top for bringing new brave design language out to the public eye. The Murano, the new Maxima, Cube, and on. They show the difference not only in quality but also in design. This will be an exciting car.

Johnny

@SG: You're right...it's really Japanese looking.

I personally didn't like the Aztek because the shape of it was ugly too. Everything in that car did not come together well. But at least this has a good shape. I like the profile picture of it. The front just looks like the Aztek threw up all over it. They should get rid of those lights on the hood and make the headlights and grille like the Murano and then maybe I'll consider this.

Bulmaer Son Of Thor

Lordy Me... Japan this and Japan that... This vehicle was designed in Nissan's London design studio out of Paddington.

YOING

I kinda dig it.

Wouldn't really compare it to pedestrian Equinox though, the 2 won't be crosshopped much unless the rental companies start adding these to their fleets.

JG

What is the general size of this thing? Pictures don't offer much perspective. What does it compare to size wise on the market today?

Ziggy

I would expect smaller and less expensive than the Rogue. So say...mini cooper in size (maybe a tad bit bigger) and priced around 17K.

Belly

I like it as well. Kind of ugly in the front, but a good kind of ugly.

J

Please tell me which ones are the headlights?

Idaho Guy

Mixed emotions here...I really like the interior, the rear view and the profile. It's those things between the hood and fenders that are putting me off...those "lights" look cancerous to me...a growth..an afterthought.

kissel

this reminds me of a nissan rogue. the edge only stands a chance against the nissan murano.

this car will sell with no problems.

Bella

It's tight! I think it looks better then anything else out there right now. Just wish I could find the gas mileage!

scott

Cant wait to get one 1.6 turbo 188 hp nissan has it going on !!

Janis Krieger

I think this car looks great, the lights on front are unique, not ugly. It is not for the conservative!

Joey

I like everything about this car except for the headlight positioning.. its just really odd to me.

To me this car is practical, offers a nice interior, good power and very affordable. I was going to get the 2012 focus but I may just end up getting this instead.
