Exclusive: Nissan's Winter Olympics Leaf Commercial

Sure, some people pick a big football game to debut a new commercial, but what about the grandeur of the Winter Olympics? Well, Nissan certainly thinks the snow-strewn games are where it’s at for a major message about its current lineup and its upcoming Leaf electric vehicle.

The spot is well-done but not groundbreaking or comical like a Super Bowl commercial. But at the end, you certainly know the Leaf is coming. Sales of the EV start at the end of 2010 in select areas.

I wonder why they chose to include the 350Z in that commercial. I didn't notice any other old models in there upon my first viewing.

A pre-facelift Altima is also there. Regardless, they should have said/shown a little bit more about the Leaf. That's what they need to sell.

This Nissan LEAF ad is as AWFUL as the GM commercial designed to kill the EV1!

Instead of showing that it plugs into solar power, it makes it an unusual, dangerous, precedential thing, a scary new unknown.

People don't want cars that create problems! Nissan is designing this to flop.
