Chevrolet Suburban Special Edition Celebrates 75 Years
Before the Ford Explorer had its heyday in the 1990s, SUVs roamed on- and off-road for decades. The Chevrolet Suburban is celebrating its uninterrupted 75-year run with a commemorative package for 2010, dubbed the 75th Anniversary Diamond Edition.
The package is available only on the Suburban’s top trim level LTZ models and primarily includes appearance add-ons. All Diamond Editions are clad in a White Diamond Tricoat — a pearlescent-looking paint — with Cashmere interior (the color, not the fabric). The package adds unique 20-inch wheels, new roof rack rails and a handful of Diamond Edition badges on the inside. You’ll find the edition’s branding on the seats, steering wheel and doorsill plates.
Only 2,570 Diamond Editions will be built, with sales starting early this summer. While we don’t have pricing on the package, a 2010 Suburban LTZ trim level starts at $52,880 for rear-wheel drive and $55,625 with all-wheel drive.

Diamond Edition? I see GM is still pushing the same old dated crap.
But its ok for toyota to have the horribly outdated Scion TC 6.0 Edition BS with nothing but a stripe and a different color but thats totally OK. But if GM has a vehicle for 75 years and wants to make an edition its just wrong and awful. How pathetic you are sir
You're not very bright comparing the Scion to the Suburban as the Scion hasn't been around for 75 years. CP is right the Suburban is old and dated.
I'm with you Eriksson, imports are o.k if they're outdated, buts good American cars date after two years. Why do people think imports are superior? They're not!
Yawn. Might as well paint it yellow, put a swing out "Stop" sign on it with blinking red lights and a bumper sticker that states "This vehicle stops at all railroad crossings".
It's a flippin' Suburban. What do you want them to put on/in it? 22 inch spinners, a movie theater, and mood lighting? You wouldn't be yawning if you were in the market for a remarkable family hauler that can take you just about anywhere. The fact that the Suburban has been around this long is a measure of its success.
YOING's post was downright hilarious.
Bowrider - if I wanted a remarkable family hauler it's called a Honda Odyssey. Then again every one in my family has all of their teeth.
Try towing a boat with your Odyssey. And....everyone in your family plays soccer.
Love the boat argument.
Because EVERYBODY owns a boat ya know.
Yoing,
If you live in a place like Michigan or Wisconsin lots of families own boats they take to the lake during weekends and vacations in the summer. If you lived in Florida you'd see the same thing with people going to inlets. I've lived on both the beach and near lakes and it is very common. These folks aren't all rich. That's why you'll never see truck based SUVs disappear completely. I actually wonder what will happen when there aren't more affordable Explorer and Tahoe sized SUVs anymore and folks are forced into Suburbans and Expeditions.
Here in the US We are very lucky to be able to own two cars in a family. Factually agreat many families wish they had two cars:
1) A high quality sporty family sedan and the other
2) Something like a Suburban. Subrbans are OUTSTANDING vehicles. They last and last.
BTW my Other car is a SAAB 9-5 turbo.
Both are extremely good USED CAR values that last for years and years!
I have a Suburban because I have five kids; I actually have quite nice teeth, as does the rest of my family. I have enough money to purchase a Suburban in lieu of an Acadia or an Odyssey. It looks great as hell; no van could math the prowess of a Suburban. It's great in Connecticut winters and doesn't get as bad of fuel mileage as one would expect.
That is one biga$$ vehicle.
