Toyota Hybrid Concept Coming To Detroit Auto Show

Toyotaconcept1
Today, Toyota announced it will debut a new concept car at this January’s North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Besides the two teaser photos shown above and below, the company had little to say about the car. We do know that it will be a dedicated hybrid like the Prius, but it won’t have a traditional gasoline counterpart. From what we can see, it looks similar to the Scion iQ concept from last year’s New York auto show.

This must not be the Yaris Hybrid that they have been talking about but rather a small car hybrid to be priced lower than the Honda Insight.

I see a back window in the top photo, which suggests it has a back seat, ruling out the Scion IQ, which I think was a two seater. I think we're looking at the concept version of a Yaris based dedicated hybrid car that might use a three cylinder engine with the hybrid synergy drive. I'm guessing mileage in the 60s, at least. One more nail in the "clean" diesel coffin.
