Cars.com Reviews the 2010 Mazda Mazda6
Mazda was pretty disappointed to see last year’s redesign of its family sedan, the Mazda6, fail to connect with buyers. Cars.com reviewer David Thomas is equally perplexed. He can’t see why shoppers in this segment would fail to give the Mazda6 a shot considering the value and performance it offers. Read his full review to find out why the Mazda6 looks especially tempting to him.

Lets get serious.
This car was destined to failure because it was introduced at the height of gas mileage race with the one of the worst MPG return.
Mazda is generally not one of the best in MPG section.
Previous generation was very unique in its styling. This car is not all that great looker as it is told by some people. And it lost its sport-oriented customers, who wanted sport and decent size. Now it is oversized for them.
Also, Mazda6 is still hurt from the times when they combined with Ford to produce some of the worst samples of 626.
Possibly that those who would buy 6 2 years ago now buying 3.
one of the interior pix looks like it's a Range Rover?? The 6 is a nice looking car, always surprised when a nice car doesn't sell well...
If only the European 6 were available here instead of this bloated rendition. The European 6, while very similar, just looks so much better.
Something about the new 6 in base form looks really cheap and unfinished to me. I can never put my finger on it, but maybe it is not just me that feels that way since it is a pretty good car that is a sales loser. In almost base form is how most cars in this class are sold, and the altima, fusion, camry, and malibu look fine like that- I do think the accord looks frumpy in base form too, but it has its name to fall back on. I know, totally unscientific, lol, just my opinion.

The second picture in the "Interior" photo pop-up is the most interesting photo of a Mazda I've ever seen. It looks like they copied something directly from Land Rover!
I really hope you guys are joking about the land rover pic - it IS a pic of a Range Rover Sport center console.

I bought the I Touring Plus in September and I love it. I don't even have a family to haul around! I'm a single gal in my late 20s and I found the exterior and interior looks were very sporty. I got the moonroof and spoiler package, which helps it not look like an elderly person's car. I love everything about it. All the features are fantastic and there's plenty of room for my friends. My only complaint is that the 4-cylinder engine could use some spunk when you accelerate from a stop. It could also be that my last car was a 6-cylinder and I haven't adjusted yet. I know another girl in her 20s who just bought one too. Mazda should market this car more to younger people. They might sell more.
I can tell you why it is not popular. I rented it for 2 weeks, and the car drives fine. BUT, it gulps gas like crazy, and the red gauges are not everyone's cup of tea. Also, the depreciation sucks.
The overall shape in the American-sized version looks a bit odd and stretched out. Also, the best exterior feature is not available on the 4-cylinder - the twin, trapezoidal tailpipes. The twin pipes on my new Altima may not be necessary but I love the way they look.
And the thing is, is there any reason to get it over the Ford Fusion/Mercury Milan given that they're on the same platform?
I have the previous version of 6 and this new one is a no-no for me. It lost the sporty looks compare to the older one. My next car will not be a 6 for sure.
My uncle has the oldest model of land rover and he paper it so much though it is too old. He treat it like his child
2006 owner here that loves the 1st gen and hates the new 6. I wouldn't be caught dead in this Buick. Mazda alienated a lot of the 1st gen owners by chosing not to bring the real Mazda6 to north america and instead left us with this beast.
Mazda is my favourite car maker
and i like R8 which is a sports
car and is not too high in price.
hahahaha! the R8 is a Mazda? spamming is actually funny, Mio Navman!
BMW's are small and sporty, and they do well. Mazda should have kept its character (small and sporty). i actually think that the previous-gen Mz6 (have the '04) is a little too big in terms of overall length and width.
RX-8 is what he probably meant to type.
I have a 2009 Mazda6 and like it a lot. It's quite fun to drive for a family sedan in this price class. It's much more refined than the prev gen, though may be a tad less sporty than the prev gen. The funny thing is I read a lot of comments from the prev gen owners that portrayed the prev gen as a BMW and the new one as a Buick. I once got the prev gen as a loaner and what a joke! The prev gen was so much behind the top-sellers Toyota and Honda in terms of fit, finish and refinement and in my opinion wasn't worth it. If I want that kind of a cheap, sporty drive I would get a 3 instead. I used to own a 3-series and the current Mazda6 isn't clearly a BMW, but neither was the prev gen. But the current 6 is a nice, refined, spacious sporty family sedan with hard to beat value for money, especially the S GT V6 version. People in this market looking for some fun without compromising much on comfort and refinement should definitely check the new 6 out, otherwise they are missing out on something.
Mazda would save money and probably have the same sales or better with the Euro model here. I'd much rather a smaller lighter Mazda than something that size -- if I wanted a Toyota Camry, I'd buy one.
