Cars.com Reviews the 2010 Acura RDX

AcuraRDX
When Acura first rolled out the RDX, it hit a juicy vein in the compact luxury SUV segment that had yet to be overexploited. These days, nearly every luxury automaker has an entry-level crossover with a relatively low price tag. Does the RDX manage to distinguish itself even though the competition has caught on? For the answer, check out the full review of the 2010 RDX by Cars.com reviewer David Thomas.

The RDX is an irrelevant player in this segment. It's too unrefined when compared to the Q5, GLK, X3, XC60 or even the VW Tiguan to be anything but an also ran. "Turbo lag" and "rush" are not "in" anymore, and the average buyers does not want an inconsistent engine, hence the low sales (and the low sales of the Mazda CX-7, an SUV with similar problems). With this facelift, i'd be surprised if they sold any.

Looks like Acura is going the way of Saa- I mean the dodo.

I agree, JM. It seems like it is just ugly for the sake of looking different. I'd rather have one of the rigs you listed, or a loaded CR-V any day.

I'm on my second RDX and absolutely love it. I would never go back to MB or BMW as Acura's reliability is better by a country mile. My current RDX interior is higher quality than my previous X3 and MB, and more fun to drive. The RDX is the best car in this class.

I know the RDX is not selling well due to its compact size and costly price compare to its competitors. But I thought the CX-7 is selling pretty well, I see lot of them on the road, at least in my area.

We have to remember that when the RDX came out, most of it's competition didn't even exist. There was no GLK, no Q5, no Tiguan and no XC60.

The only one was the X3 as well as the Mazda CX-7.

As far as the review goes, it's pretty well spot on. Honda made a huge mistake by not offering a manual tranny to differentiate it from the competition. It does look better in person IMO.

RDX came with Acura's Super Handling All Wheel Drive system, a front wheel drive RDX is also available. This system holds the road incredibly well. As we dashed over wet roads on a drizzly day, we could feel the system work to keep the RDX on the pavement.
