The 10 Best-Selling Cars: November 2009

2010FordEscape

November was another positive month for most automakers as companies like Hyundai, Subaru, and Nissan saw impressive gains of 46%, 24% and 21% respectively. Ford and GM remained relatively flat but Chrysler was one of the few companies still seeing a huge decline compared to November of last year. Sales slid again by 25%. It’s down 38% for the year to date.

Chrysler’s woes hit the top ten as its venerable Dodge Ram pickup is still bumped from the list selling fewer than 10,000 units in November despite an expensive advertising blitz. See which trucks, sedans and crossovers still rule the list below.

1. Ford F-Series: 30,494
2. Toyota Camry 27,385
3. Chevy Silverado: 22,101
4. Toyota Corolla: 21,899
5. Honda Accord: 17,239
6. Nissan Altima: 15,490
7. Ford Escape: 15,149
8. Honda CR-V: 13,955
9. Ford Fusion: 13,774
10. Honda Civic: 13,652

Should the Civic & Fusion be switched?

dee

Civic sales slumped.

Thanks Billy. I fixed it. Yep Fusion is #9.

Not sure why civic sales were so bad. Might have been a later 2010 model switchover than the other models. Not sure.

Mark

We love our 2010 Fusion. Hope to see sales rise for such a great car.

I have been thinking about buying a civic.. but I think i would buy an accord instead. The civic looks to ordinary nowadays.

tscurt

I'm waiting for the new engine family before I look at the Fusion. what's the latest on when they start production?

DonB

When the current Civic came out, it was too radical; now it's too ordinary! Tastes certainly change...
Also, the Fusion has been getting great reviews, I'm sure that's helping it's sales. Are the Fusion Hybrid's sales combined with the Fusion's? Or are they counted separately?
Thanks.

Bowrider

Goes to show that most sales are going to practical vehicles.

H

tscurt,

What new engine family are you referring to? This refresh included the new 2.5l 4-cyl, a thoroughly revised 3.0l 6-cyl, and the first application of the corporate 3.5l 6-cyl in the Fusion Sport.

Troy S.

The Civic will actually shrink in the near future. Kinda getting back to it's roots...if you will.

Talked to a buddy of mine that works at a honda dealership. He said inventory is real low for the 09 civic and 2010's have been slow to arrive.

Kyle

Ziggy,
You hit the nail on the head. My neighbor works for Honda Finance and she said a lot of dealers in the mid to east regions are complaining about lack of Civic inventory.

chessor

Where are the GM cars? I can't believe not one made the list.

H

I love how all of a sudden discussions of inventory seem to come up in random chats with neighbors and friends.

Find it strange the Accord isn't lacking inventory it posted a 7.5% increase but its second best seller Civic is?
