The Future Jeep Lineup

Jeep
Today, Chrysler executives revealed their future plans for the Jeep brand. Prior to the company’s bankruptcy, many considered Jeep the only brand valuable enough to sell off. Now, the company will slowly revamp the lineup, much like they’re doing with the Dodge brand.

Here’s a look at their new commercial.

There weren’t nearly as many specific details given about the new Jeep models or what the major refreshes would include. The most notable new product mentioned is an all-new Jeep SUV based on a very small Fiat model. The company says the entire Jeep brand will be converted to a new architecture by 2013 and ride on front-, all- and four-wheel drive.

2010

Jeep Commander

  • Final year of production
Jeep Grand Cherokee
Jeep Compass

Jeep Wrangler

  • This will be a small — think Mini Cooper — SUV based on a Fiat platform.
Jeep Liberty
  • Fiat-based replacement
Jeep Patriot/Compass replacement
  • A single model based on a Fiat design.

Chrysler had already tried to pimp out the Jeep brand name by putting it on a Caliber and calling it a Jeep Compass. They're ugly and nothing about them will EVER be "Trail Rated".

Fiat could keep the brand pure with the Liberty, Grand Cherokee and the stalwart Wrangler. Why do they have to add a Mini-SUV competitor? Stop misusing the name Jeep and placing it on poor machines. Sure, the Grand Cherokee isn't a pure off-road contender, but Jeep folks know that and are fine with it. But the Wrangler and the Liberty can hold their own.

The brand could stay profitable with staying pure and not diluting the lineup.

This coming from a '96 Cherokee 4x4 owner. Gotta love it - never ever sell it!

SG

What do the mean by the Jeep Wrangler getting a "New Design"???

Peppy

I hope they don't make the Wrangler even bigger than it is now... mini SUV? come on. stupid. Keep the Liberty, GC and the Wrangler and be happy with it.

95 Grand Cherokee owner here.

Larry

Actually, How about a Cherokee replacement and a small pickup like the Gladiator concept. Keep jeep true to the trail rated name and drop the compass and patriot.

SG,
It'll be "all-new" but likely will look exactly the same as always if they're smart about it. But you never know.

AG

If they mess-up, wimpy-up, green-up and europe-an-ize/obama-ize the wrangler... jeep is done. now. period.

The current JK line is the best wrangler set in years IMHO.

Mike

They are not totaly heading it the right direction here. they need to keep the Liberty close to what it is not make it a crossover. the little Fiat Panda Is cool for what it is a Mini CUV for girls but will us consumer buy it?
Keeping the Grand Cheroke is a smart move, while it more for luxury it can off road some. my Dad does with his 2002 GC.

I recently got my first Jeep a 2006 Liberty CRD Limited. I realy like it. I wish they would offer a CRD again. Cleaner diesel is the way to go Europe getts it why don't US drivers?

Andy

Jeep does not need 15 different models. They should only have jeep gc, liberty and wrangler. they dont need 4X2. all their vehicles should be trail rated. I think thats what Jeep should be all about.
people who want to really go places where asphalt does not exist should be Jeeps, I know it does not fit in chrysler sale more and survive agenda but I think lot of people would agree with me.

Fasst

I am a Compass owner and I am pleased with it. That car is big enough ( even too big, for us in Europe... ) and I expect a future 4wheel drive Jeep car with lower fuel
consumption. That for, I am glad that most of Jeep cars are based on european engines.

Sorry for my poor english but i'm french....

Bill

Why no Gladiator pickup?

It's been more than a generation since a new Jeep pickup truck rode the highways and trails of America.
If G.M. can build Chevy and G.M.C. trucks and sell both sucessfully , why can't Chrysler build (Dodge)Ram and Jeep Trucks ?
With the pending end of the Dodge Dakota...why can't Jeep have that platform for a new Gladiator ?

steve

Ive owned a Jeep Commander since its release in 2006 i now have 80,000 miles on it and only replaced the brakes and tires!:) haven’t had any other problems with it but the cloth interior stains very easily even if water touches it, seems past versions of jeep their cloth was of better quality ill remember to go leather next time. Handles like a dream and its turning radius is superb and on the highway were i do most of my driving i feel like im riding in a Cadillac the suspension is superb also. I Also go off-road and it can handle anything i throw at it Ive had it flexing on 2 wheels. They get rid of the Commander and keep all the small Wimpy builds lol you don't see Hummer getting rid of there flagship h2 h1 or range rover getting rid of theirs. they got rid of the Cherokee which you could not kill, and they bring it back with a beefy Commander and they want to take that off.

Scott

Well everybody, say goodbye to Jeep. Say hello to Fiat. Fiat is coming in and killing what is left about Jeep. All us Jeep lovers can do is shamefully watch.

Scott

Biil is right. I have been waiting for a Jeep pickup. 1992 was the last time. They should put out a Jeep Trucks brand. Put 'em on a Dodge (excuse me, RAM) platform.

Paul

Exactly, Andy. Thank you. Jeep does not need 4X2 Jeeps. That is what Dodge is for. Jeep is for 4X4 purists like us.

victor

I like the idea of a smaller jeep. The original jeep was a very small vehicle. It was smaller than my CJ-5. We need better and better fuel economy and size does matter for that. I like the idea of a hemi in a four door Wrangler but it would be mighty thirsty and when fuel goes back up, I would be sick to my belly and would have to park it. We have to think a head a little.

Don

They are destroying the Jeep name... I have a 2006 Jeep wrangler... the last of the real Wranglers and I will never sell it... If they don't get back to making great off road vehicles they are going to kill the franchise...

Michael

I Bought my Jeep Cherokee in 1999,I love my jeep.My plans are to buy a wrangler in 2013.But if they are going to make them like fiat not going to be interested.Guess i will have to look somewhere else.

David

I'm retired and just bought my 2011 Jeep Compass last year (2011) and really like it. I don't want a Fiat! What is Jeep management thinking og?
