2011 Buick Regal Images, Info Released
We had heard Buick would introduce a smaller, sportier sedan named the Regal to sell alongside the new LaCrosse. Today, the company released full images of the car, which looks a lot like LaCrosse in all ways. Luckily, the Regal doesn’t sport the portholes of the LaCrosse, and the rear is certainly distinctive.
The company also didn’t go overboard with the grille, which we’ve seen happen with Lincoln and other automakers lately.
GM says the car will go on sale in the second quarter of 2010 as a four-cylinder with estimated 30 mpg highway. A turbocharged model going on sale later this summer.

- Standard 2.4L Ecotec direct injected engine rated at an estimated 182 horsepower (136 kW)
- Available 2.0L Ecotec turbocharged and direct injected engine rated at an estimated 220 horsepower (164 kW) – available late-summer 2010
- Both engines have a six-speed automatic transmission standard with driver-shifting control
- Estimated 30 mpg on the highway with the 2.4L and 29 mpg highway with the 2.0L turbo engine
- MacPherson strut front suspension and four-link independent rear suspension
- All-new Interactive Drive Control System (IDCS) available with the 2.0L turbo, offering driver-selectable suspension settings and automatic driver suspension setting adaptability
- Four-wheel disc brakes with four-channel anti-lock braking system, brake assist and electronic parking brake
- Standard StabiliTrak stability control system and full-function traction control
- Standard dual-stage frontal air bags, side-curtain air bags and pedal-release system; rear-seat thorax air bags available
- Available navigation system, Harmon Kardon sound system, internal flash drive (1GB), hard drive with 10GB for music and USB port
- Standard 18-inch wheels (19-inch wheels standard with IDCS)
- Standard 12-way power, leather and heated driver seat; leather and heated passenger front seat; Bluetooth capability; XM Satellite Radio and OnStar.

I like it but the wheels are too big.
Looks nice but can Buick pull off 4 vehicles? Once they introduce the Cruze based smaller car what will it do to Regal sales.

i am betting u copied & pasted..LOL...a few websites have video of the interior..no audio tho?! It seems 2 have an i-drive like knob...

Great Point Billy4202 that is the first thing i wondered.I will be graduating college and starting a family soon and this seems to suit me well, a sporty sedan with good mpg's bigger than a Cobalt, that every college girl down here in Alabama won't have.But the lack of 40 horses from what may be the same engine definatly turns me off of this car

It isn't based on the Insignia; it is the Insignia. Having seen many of them around on the road over here in the UK I cannot see any differences apart from a different grille and some new badges.
Seems strange they are not introducing the OPC version with AWD and a 2.8l V6 turbo with 325hp. This does 0-62 in 6.0 seconds...
It's nice to see a car roll out where raw horsepower isn't the selling key. It's time we start living with cars that produce perfectly acceptable performance. With dwindling fuel supplies and costs increasing, there's no need for a family sedan with much over 200 horsepower, even if it does weigh 3300 pounds.
im with stangmatt66 since its a buick it'll be heavy, so it'll need a V6

Hot Car! I drive a 2002 Buick Regal (and a '65 Buick Skylark 4 door sedan)and could see myself trading it in for this car...I agree with other posters...give us a small 6 and also a 6 speed manual transmission. My understanding is that when the "baby Buick" comes out, the Lucerne will be dropped, making the LaCrosse the largest Buick...so there will not be 4 cars in the line up...

But if you could have extra power at no expense of fuel economy...why not, right? Plus, as a "premium" brand, buyers would expect Buicks to have more power than a similar Chevy would.
The rear is ugly and the wheels look plain silly. What's the point of Buick? Oh that's right it's a premium car when compared to Chevy. As if that's saying much. As much as GM changes they actually stay the same.

Nice car, getting popular in the UK, where it's badged as a Vauxhall.
Great job Buick! It is a fresh (to the US) design. Conerns about power & weight are echoed. Possible way to override it is to include a manual transmission (at least allowing some fun). The front reminds me of a Bentley GT & the back reminds me of the Infiniti G37, but also has cues from the Chrysler Sebring.
What's the point of Buick? To sell cars.
