Chrysler Trademarks New Logo

New Chrysler needed a new logo, and previous reports from Allpar, a Chrysler fan site, have been confirmed by the automaker’s filing of a new logo with the U.S. Patent and Trademark office.

The new logo sticks with the wings but stretches them horizontally; it keeps the embossed blue emblem at its center. It’s really more of an update than a reinvention — sleeker yet still familiar. We think it would look right at home on Chrysler’s 200C concept from last year’s Detroit Auto Show (check out the pic after the jump).

Allpar also reports that the new Dodge brand will ditch the Ram’s head logo in favor of a new badge to call its own.

Dodge car TV commercials (like Journey) have already ditched the rams head and just show "D O D G E".

I like the new logo. Polishing a turd? I really hope not.

J

Just when can they design a logo that is distinguishable?

Adam

And I thought they were ripping off Aston Martin with the first wing logo, this new one is absurd!

Too bad it's not a re-imagination of the entire company.

For the second time.

Dan

Oh good, now I can buy a Chrysler.

[sarcasm clearly intended]

GR

All it is missing is the head and the wings and the word Thunderbird.

GR

Ooops! I meant head and tail, not head and wings. Duh.

JT

Oh good! They have a new logo. Now all they need are some vehicles to put it on.

It was a good decision for Chrysler to retain the wings in their new logo. It's what made them stick to everyone's mind, and updating it sure has prolonged that. But I think they changed it again, perhaps because of the new owners. That's a great way to start a new chapter in the company's rich legacy.
