VW Teases All-New Sedan

Vwsedan
Volkswagen has been relatively mum about its upcoming midsize sedan. Today, they’ve released the above sketch and said the car will go on sale in late 2011. We’re unsure on where this car will sit in the company’s lineup; it probably won’t replace a current offering like the Jetta but count the Passat's days numbered. The fact that it will be built in Chattanooga, Tenn., also makes us think it will be a North America-only offering since buyers on this side of the Atlantic tend to want different things from their sedans, namely more interior room.

A more angular CC?

Robert

It's a Phaeton with higher doors ans smaller windows.

The front is almost identical.

Whatever it looks like, as long as it has a VW badge, it will be overpriced by $4000-$5000.

Tim,
They're building it in the U.S. to keep the currency rates from bumping up the price. Theoretically...

Paul

Maybe they will get stupid like with Toureg,Tiguan, and Routan, and call it Dasher!

Paul,
I can't believe I didn't miss the opportunity to take a shot at their naming. If any company should ask the public to name a new model it's VW.

WestPhillyForever

Hey Robert, I thought Phaeton as soon as I saw the front end on that sketch as well. But I'm not sure VW wants to take the Phaeton nameplate and downsize it to a mid-size see-dan.

Nic

Whoever thinks Phaeton with larger wheels is correct.
